As a regular golfer who has been invited over the years by a long standing member and friend to play his golf course I would like to acknowledge that in the past I would have given him some stick about certain aspects of the Greencastle course. It is now my time to acknowledge the tremendous improvement that has taken place and in particular the quality of the greens. My friend has had much input to the transformation and in particular the greens. I can now say Greencastle greens are second to none that I have played on in the past or present. Congratulations to the whole Greencastle team.

Travelled from UK to play in a friendly comp arranged by brother in law. Played three times in a week in a variety of conditions, changing from gale force winds to almost flat calm on last day. Prob my favourite course, not too long, fairways not too narrow, nicely paced greens. Ideal for mid to high handicapper but plenty of challenges for single figure players as well! Incredible views all round the course. Welcoming staff in club house afterwards as well. Great value for you euro!

The bar food and menu are excellent. The batter on the fish (haddock) was beautiful and light. The fish fresh and tasty. Also had monk fish in lemon and lime butter on first visit. The lemon and lime butter was amazing. Roast beef and caesar salad were also delicious.

Staff and members were also very friendly and welcoming.

The scene from the bar windows are breathtaking. Beautiful views over Lough Foyle, Magilligan Point and Downhill and of course people playing golf.

We were staying at the Ballyboes B&B just across the road from the Golf Club and decided to just eat here on our first night after a long day of travelling.

We enjoyed the food and the company so much, we ate here every night of our stay and weren't let down on any occassion

The food was well cooked, very tasty and reasonably priced and the staff were really friendly.

Not enough people know about this little gem for a meal!!!

We booked 2 courses for our group’s November trip to Donegal’s Inishowen Peninsula – Greencastle and Ballyliffin. Our first port of call was Greencastle, that, I had been led to believe, was just an “ordinary” members’ course.
This was a tad underselling, in my view, of what turned out to be a fine links course on the shores of Lough Foyle. Although it is in a different league to the more well-known links courses, it is great value for money and well worth including in your list of courses to visit, whenever you travel to Donegal for golf.
Maybe, I left the course with a good feeling – we had great weather on the day we played (in contrast to the horrible weather we experienced next day in Ballyliffin), there were great views of Lough Foyle and I scored well. At Par 69 (5293 metres in length with 6 par 3s), it is a little short but none of this took away from our enjoyment or from the golfing challenge.
The most memorable hole for me was the par 4 12th, “Lighthouse”, which is played firstly to a valley, then uphill to the green on the downward slope towards the shoreline and lighthouse. I played driver and 9 iron (ball hopped on top of the hill and ran down to the green). Delighted to say I sank the putt for birdie. What joy!!
As a group, we ate in the clubhouse on two evenings – they have a great chef - food and service were first class. Not bad for a little member owned course on the Inishowen Peninsula near the top of Ireland! If we had a course like it in Dublin, it would compete well with the best, have lots of members and justly attract truckloads of visitors.

The site of this golf club is spectacular - a piece of heaven - a place that any landscape artist would die for! We were lucky that our visit was on beautiful days - we were so delighted on the first visit that we returned again with friends! The food was excellent, I don't think that I have ever tasted fish so beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and helpful and did everything they could to make sure that our needs were met. Thank you for two memorable visits, we'll be back.

Very disappointing meal only awarded one star as i cant rate a zero. Beautiful drive into the golf club on entering the building the entrance is uninviting the decor is outdated and scruffy looking place. We waited an hour and twenty minutes for our starters, during this time no one came near our table to explain a delay or take a drinks order. We made two trips to the bar on our own during our wait. Once the starters arrived there was a hair in the salad and the vegetable soup was water leek and a piece of carrot and had no flavour at all. The mains were not much of an improvement the haddock was very greasy and chicken escalope was tasteless. The only positive was it was cheap but even at those prices i wont be back

I was at an Inner wheel charity 4ball event on Fri 21st April. The welcome, food, course, weather were all spectacular. The event ran so smoothly. The catering coped with a huge crowd with humour and efficiency.. A super venue with spectacular views and sounds of the sea. Can't wait for return visit. Teedi Trundle, Druids Heath, Wicklow.
