This small church that was the chapel of the castle built by Count Roberto the Norman between 1102 and 1107 is a small jewel. It is divided into 3 naves with a double series of 5 columns and has a pavement of mosaics that echo paleochristian churches of the VI to VII centuries. Absolutely breathtaking to see such a unique building still standing and used for its original function after 900 years.

I saw a documentary about this village and I immediately fell in love. It is located over a hill. You can reach it by car from the airport of Naples or from the city centre in 40 minutes. Leave the car in one of the parking places at the entrance of the village and forget about it. Beautiful pedestrian city centre. A lot of atmosphere. You will feel immediately relaxed and away from stress.

This town is a hidden beauty in Campania. It’s close to very famous places like Capri, Procida, Naples, but it’s not in the turistic iteniry. I love the fact that it’s authentic Italian, with old people sitting and playing cards, to families with little kids, and so cheep! I spent few nights here and went around with the car to visit Naples and Procida and Positano. But it was nice to be back here at night. Lovely also on Sunday, all shops are open and there is a big vegetable market with local products which are amazing

If you're passing through the region of Campania, I recommend spending some time in Sant'Agata de'Goti. The town is the perfect place to stop for a coffee and afternoon passeggiata through the historic center, which features structures that date back to the 10th century, along with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Ideally, I would recommend arriving in the afternoon, and staying for dinner at one of the local restaurants (Mirò Ristobar is my favorite). If you have the time, find an apartment to stay for the night – I always do, as it's a great place to catch up on reading, writing and rest.

While Sant'Agata de' Goti is most famous for the side view of the town from the bridge, we found the entire little town to be oozing with charm. It was a wonderful step back in time to wander the old streets and taking in an authentic piece of Italy history. We were able to park easily outside the main portion of the town, found a lovely place for lunch and then wandered around the town for a couple of hours. Since it was New Years Day, we pretty much had the town to ourselves so we would advise visiting off season to experience the charm as much as possible. Definitely a must see!!

Not your average tourist city, all the doors are made here because it's the medieval city that has much history to it. It's built into the side of a cliff and the bridge over to the old city is pretty fantastic to view. A lot of nice restaurants little squares and churches to visit. It's a nice half a day/they visit. I would recommend going if I was in the near area.

We visited Sant Agata which seemed to be a roman village built into the side of a giant cliff. Architecturally it was superb and all still standing. Walking into the village via a viaduct you saw the lot, no more interesting bits except for the churches which unfortunately does not interest me, seen one, the rest are the same. Oh yes, our tour guide was Claudio and his dog Andrea, Claudio hardly spoke English so a lot of time was wasted in translation. I recommend you bypass this excursion.

You must take the time to wander around the old town. It is very quaint. Park just outside the main town in parking lot. Easy to stroll around.
