元々は清水をたたえた池だったようですが、埋め立てを経て人工池として再築され地元の方の憩いの場になっています。遊女が鏡のように自らの姿を映したという伝承があり、鎌倉時代にはこの辺りが宿場として賑わっていたことがわかります。

西国分寺駅から少し歩きます、案内板もあるけど、分かりにくいかも。池の周囲に小川に沿って小道があります。仕事場へ行くときの寄り道です。決して長くはない道ですが、道草を食べられる大好きな道です。

西国分寺から少し歩いたところにある池＋公園。なんか珍しい鳥がよく来るとかで、バードウォッチングの隠れた名所らしいです。ハケ（国分寺崖線）沿いには、ここにかぎらず涌水地がいくつかあります。近くの日立の研究所内に野川の源流の湧き水なんかも有名です。

西国分寺駅の北口からごちゃごちゃした小道を国分寺駅方面に徒歩10分。
住宅密集地の中に、あらわれる美しい和風の回遊式庭園。
中央線の電車からは見えない。
小川や遊歩道があり、散策にはいいが、近くには他に見どころはない。

JR西国分寺の駅からは5分ほど。
西国分寺駅は1974年に駅が出来たので、それまではこの辺りは雑木林だった。
だから今もその名残が感じられる場所で、駅に近いのに池があり、里山の風景が広がっている印象。
今は遊歩道が整備され、池の周りではのんびり時間が流れる感じがいい。
池の名前はこの池にちなむ伝説から来ているようだ。

西国分寺駅から近い所にあります。看板に従っていくとわかりますが、少々入口がわかりにくいかもしれません。
きれいな池と湿地が広がっています。鯉や鴨などの動物が多く、カメラマンも多くいました。
周囲は住宅街なので、こういった自然が近くに残っていることに驚きます。

JR中央線沿いに広がる池です。はるか昔この池で身を映していた遊女のお話しが池の名前の由来となっています。池となっている部分の他、周囲を湿地が囲んでおり保全運動が行われていますが、同時に宅地開発も盛んでベンチなども設置され公園化されています。

西国分寺駅から10分以内の場所なのですが、とても自然豊かに感じます。周囲は住宅地ですが、池には水鳥が戯れていて武蔵野の自然が保全された場所と感じます。

かつては崖線の湧水や恋ヶ窪用水がながれこんだ池だそうです。埋め立てられたものを再生した池だそうで、住宅街の憩いの場になっています。
