I often visit this quiet and beautiful green tree garden for take a break. Here is unbelievable calm n peaceful place even though Kokubunnji station is very closed. I prefer staying late afternoon by myself. In Autumn, green forest turns beautiful red. I do recommend to breathe the fresh air if you need to refresh. 一人で閉園前の黄昏時に行くのが好きです。雑多な国分寺駅からわずか徒歩2分とは思えない平和な庭園はお気に入りです。

The Tonogayato Gardens are beautiful; a welcome respite right near a train station in an urban area. Admission is less than $2 (less than $1 for seniors) and one can easily wile away an hour or more--even in February before the blossoms burst. A wonderful Japanese Garden experience on a fairly small scale; walkways lined with natural materials, the sound... More

The park is just a very short walk from the train station. Such a quiet oasis in a busy city. Take the time to visit The lake and the teahouse.

An oasis in a busy city! Beautiful trails, fish ponds and gardens! Take the time, its very relaxing, and beautiful! The day we went was a little chilly and overcast but it was still exceptional! My pictures will follow!

This park/garden is located about 100 meters east of the south exit of the Kokubunji Station on the Chuo Line in Tokyo. It is very easy to get to and is located on the south side of the street. There is no public parking so take the train. It is the site of a "country home" of the Iwasaki family... More

The Tonogaya Park is tiny, tucked away (a short walk south from the Kokubunji station), and largely free of tourists. Despite its size, it had more beautiful trees, ponds, flowers, and scenery of any garden I went to in Tokyo. What drew us to this park, however, is the fact that it has a bamboo grove. I don't know of... More
