A beautiful park any time of year but magnificent in spring where acres of cherry blossom trees are in bloom

My family have a dog. We came here to make our dogs play. There is a big dog run. Our dog was very pleased. Here is the shade of the tree. Even with the sunshine we are safe.

A large parkland, which includes the Tokyo Outdoor Architectural Museum which appears on many tourist lists. I haven't visited the Museum, but enjoyed a day out in the park with my Japanese resident son and granddaughter aged 5.

Beautiful meadows of poppies at this time of year, and a lovely Koinobori, the carp flags for Children's day on May 5. Many local families were picnicking, riding bicycles and using the variety of giant slides, jumping devices, climbing walls and the like. Street performers too. I only touched the surface of the park on this visit of several hours. You can buy food and rent bikes by the hour. A green oasis in the city for an active day out or a snooze in the sun.

This park is away from the metro so similar to the interior of the Yoyogi and Meiji-Jingu, you won't see any skyscrapers obstructing the sky line. I was lucky enough to visit during a sunny day. The flowers were in bloom and the park itself wasn't crowded. Most of the visitors I came across were locals.

This park is not really a destination for tourists in its own right, but it is a very nice space used by locals, and you will pass through it if you want to go to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

When we were there, many people were enjoying the park for a Walking Festival, and lots of folks had brought their dogs out to for a walk. The park also has a bird sanctuary area and an old steam locomotive on display.
