Beautiful, well maintained public park with a lake, winding paths, a marsh teeming with crayfish traversed with wooden bridges and some interesting historic Japanese buildings. It's wedged in between a busy road but you completely forget that a road is even nearby. Quiet and tranquil. Parking also available nearby.
It would be enjoyable to take a leisurely walk when the weather is nice. You can enjoy a variety of seasonal flowers, trees and old folk houses in the garden. Take your time to explore and snap some great pictures.

We caught a bus from Machida en route to Squirrel Park(more or less opposite side of road to this Park), with two young grandsons in tow. We visited Yakushiike Park- free entry - for a picnic lunch during sakura season when families were picnicking and appreciating the blossom. As with all Japanese parks it's beautifully tended and soothing to the spirit. There's a water wheel ,and large lake-I understand there is somewhere to buy refreshments but we didn't seek it out having brought our own.

This park area is immaculately kept, by a team that can be seen going about their business every day.
The pond has fish & turtles living inside. The ducks fly in/out throughout the day. The park is how to numerous different types of birds.
There is a temple to the top of the park area.
It also houses a couple of small places to eat, though it is probably best to buy from the train station prior to catching the bus depending on what you would like tp eat.. There are many spaces available to sit and enjoy the park while having lunch.
Need to cross the train line near Odakyu Station. Take bus No 55 from Bus stop 21. It will take you to the park for 280Y.

Catch the bus from Machida or take a walk it is 6km from central Machida. I had a small hail storm on the way home chose to enjoy a bowel of Ramen at the many little cafes now popping up enroute waiting for the weather to clear.. There are a couple of Shrines & Parks along the way making for a pleasant day out walking. Sugawara Shrine & Hinatayama Park are a couple to see. The gardens are immaculately kept. Ponds have turtles in, they run a program to rescue turtles from drying rivers and place them here. At the top of the park is a beautiful Buddhist temple. Loads of space to have your own time. A worthwhile palace to visit in Machida. Easy to access.

Walked here from central Machida. Squirrel Park across the road, good for families with kids 400 ten entry fee. Yakushiike is free. This park does have a couple of places where you can buy food. But if you wish to purchase food and have a picnic is a good place to do so. A visit to the jinga at the top of the park. Will find very nice holymen wanting to explain the history of the amazing carvings within the building.
This park is alive in Sakura season, locals sit within the grounds and families celebrate.Really good piece of forest within a city. Upper trees date back hundreds of years.
