- jaolbreakMelbourne, Australia36 contributionsThoroughly enjoyed paddling on a lake in a swan boat. Although we missed the sakura (cherry blossoms) we picked a beautiful 24 degree C weekday to visit in late April and it was not very busy. You can buy tickets from a machine at the front of the boat jetty, just 800 yen per boat for 30 minutes (which will be enough for the average person without tiring). Surrounding the lake are a variety of trees and plants. On the day we visited there was a large group of school children painting trees and landscapes around the lake and the sound of their excitement added to our enjoyment of the park. There are toilets and food shops around the park, and the pathways are a mix of concrete and gravel. It rained a bit the day before we went, but there was not a lot of mud of water on the paths. Overall the park was peaceful, and a nice way to spend a couple hours in Tokyo.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 26, 2024
- MizuhoKHino, Japan4,246 contributionsInokashira Park, which is not far from the noisy Kichijoji Station and spreads a little further south, is a symbol of Kichijoji and Musashino City. It is divided into several zones, including the park and the Ghibli Forest. I have only experienced a small part of the area near Kichijoji Station. Hanami is famous in spring. I am surprised that there is such a quiet and rich nature when you leave the hustle and bustle of Kichijoji. On Saturday mornings, there were a variety of people - walking, running, reading on the bench.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 12, 2024
- David NHawthorne, California5,888 contributionsThis park features a rather large pond with swan paddle boats, walking paths, athletic fields, and even a zoo. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the pond and over the bridges. It was very quiet and relaxing. The trees were gorgeous and green. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be with the Sakura blossoms in the Spring and the changing colors in the Fall. Just outside the park, you'll find many boutique shops and restaurants. My wife found a great small store that was cat-themed and I found a very impressive used T-Shirt shop.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten October 24, 2024
- hinahina2,511 contributionsI visited the week after the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, when the leaves had already fallen, so the park wasn't too crowded. Although I missed the cherry blossoms, the rhododendrons, azaleas, irises, and Japanese yarrows were in full bloom, and it was fun to stroll around looking at them. The boat pond here is a little smaller than the neighboring ones, so when it's crowded it can be difficult to change direction on the water, so I recommend going early. It's not that far to go around the edge of the pond, but you can move between the aquatic park and the zoo, so families can spend the whole day in the park without the kids getting bored, and I think it's perfect for a holiday picnic.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten May 26, 2024
- YHShibuya, Japan123 contributionsIt was a very good park with all the good spaces and facilities for its accessibility in Tokyo! Enjoy the view, get on the boat and enjoy the space with lots of little squirrels. I enjoyed a very nice date with my elementary school daughter.Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 10, 2024

We had such a wonderful time visiting this park. As we were touring Ueno park, we saw it in the distance and immediately noticed the beautiful swan paddle boats. We couldn’t resist taking a ride, which was very inexpensive. We would highly recommend anyone who’s in Tokyo. A beautiful place to spend an hour! (there are also temples within walking distance to tour).

I went to Inokashira Park by myself in the summer. Overall, I would not recommend it (unless you are in the area) in the summer. The park was altogether nice, but there were much nicer parks to visit closer to the city centre (Yoyogi Park and Shinjuku Gyoen). It was nice, however, to hear the cicadas.

It was a wonderful view. I've been there before, but the cherry blossom season is really beautiful and definitely worth a visit. It's also lovely in the cold season, and the park reflected in the lake looks really nice. If you're in the area, why not stop by?

After a couple of days spent in Tokyo’s busiest, most crowded, and most fun neighborhoods, we wanted a break and to see another side of Tokyo. Inokashira park was the perfect break. Beautiful, leafy, calm, quiet park with lots of people out enjoying strolls and dog walking.

This park is just a few minutes from the Kichijoji Station and shopping street. It is also surrounded by many private houses which they can visit the park any time. Around this park are many shops allowing visitors to do shopping and buying F&B.
In the park there are also zoo, shine, etc. You can take boat rowing on the water. It is also a place for walking, running, photographing, relaxing, etc.

Make sure you visit the pond where most of the activities are. The swan peddle boat cost 700¥ for 30mins - good fun for couples or with family / kids. Try to go during a clear sunny day so you can see the reflections on the water.
Good place to pop by after the studio Ghibli museum.

I thought this park was beautiful. The area was very trendy with lots of boutiques and interesting shops and the park was full of autumn colour, ducks, fish and just local people hanging out in a park. I thought it was a lovely place to see how Tokyo folk spend their days. Really nice!!
It's only 5 mins walk from the station.

This lovely park near the Ghibli Museum is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Boating on the lake is a lot of fun with row boats and pedalos available. We visited in Autumn and enjoyed the beautiful foliage. It's also nice to enjoy a spacious area after busy Tokyo streets. Cafe du Lievre is near/in the park if you fancy a pre or post stroll beverage and crepe. Inokashira Park zoo nearby is also a fun visit for the children and a chance to see Tanuki.

It was a wonderful Spring Sunday and the weather was great, and we decided to go Sakura Hanami at Inokashira Park (井の頭恩賜公園), away from the famous city park like Ueno Park because we knew it would be crowded. However, when we reached Inokashira Park at the evening, the park was packed with people drinking and doing their hanami stuff under the trees, and don't even think of taking the boat ride, because the queue was endless. Anyway, it was still a great place to go, less touristy, and you could experience the more local stuff there.

A lovely little park with a weekend art market that makes browsing very pleasant - at the end of your walk up from the JR station.
