It was a long walk from the Marathon Beach Hotel but well worth it. There are scarves provided to wrap around your waist (women) so that you can enter the monastery to view the remains of what I assume were Saint Ephraim.

We visit St. Ephraim Monastery every time we are in Athens. You need to know the closing times so that you do not arrive during that time. They close for 4 hours midday in the summer.

The inside of this Monastery is remarkable - definately worth a look. Unfortunately the hours to actually go inside are unclear, we lucked out and happen to be walking by early Sunday afternoon and it was open. Site is free to go in.
