Tasty Fruits. The host could speak fluent English.

Even I visited alone, I could communicate with the host and knew more about the method and history of fruit industry in Japan.

Peaches are big and tasty. Cherry picking is another option in May. I could see there are a variety of fruits ready for havest in coming months. You could see the hard work of farmers from their products. Thank the host so much for taking care of me during the visit. It was an excellent experience. I would like to visit again in my next japan trip.

中込農園is one of the best farms in Japan. I really enjoyed staying there. The farm have wide variety of fruits in premium quality including peach, apple, grape, nectarine, cherry, pear, persimmon and plum. Honestly the fruits are the best I've ever try in my life. Besides, the hospitality of Kazu san and his staffs makes the experience even better. It is especially suitable for family or friends gathering. The price of fruit picking is reasonable and there are plenty of car parking space. After fruit picking, it is always nice to take a walk in the downtown Yamanashi. I'm sure you will like it!

There are many different kinds of fresh fruits for picking from June to November. I picked some very big peaches and grapes from the trees. It was so sweet and juicy. The plum and nectarine from the orchard are the best in the world. Customers can enjoy picking different variety of fruit at the same time.
I am sure I will come back to try their cherry, apples and persimmon in the future.

In my recent trip to Japan, my wife and myself made a trip to Nakagomi Fruit Orchard in Minami-Alps-Shi, Yamanashi, Japan. It's just a short trip from Shinjuku, Tokyo by express train - 1.5hrs and near Mt Fuji.

Mr Kazu who owns the orchard provided excellent hospitality for us (besides showing us the best peaches, plums and nectarines to eat, he also helped booked a local onsen-ryokan for us to stay overnight) and he speaks excellent English. His is the only farm in that region who welcomes guests from overseas besides Japanese. Jul/Aug/Sep - peaches are in full season, Sep/Oct - Kyoho grapes and persimmons and apples... fruits galore.

Please visit his website http://www5.ocn.ne.jp/~kazunaka/image/englishpage1.htm for more details and directions or call him.

He welcomes all visitors. Wife and myself missing the excellent juicy peaches!

The trip to the farm was rather disappointing. We felt that Mr. Kazu was rather rude (not a typical Japanese) and didnt kept his promise for a box of fruit -nectarine after the fruit picking!

It would be better if I and my family did the fruit picking at other farm.

Spending time at Nakagomi Orchard and Kazu San's family was a wouderful experience indeed. Amazing sceneries and views of Mount Fuji from the dorm and orchard everyday! From learning about fruit orchard and farming to harvesting quality and big fruits such as cherries, peaches, apples, plums, pears and grapes, Kazu San also share with us about Japanese commute culture and history.
Thank you Yoko San (Kazu San's sister-in-law) for the wouderful meals every evening and Nori San (Kazu San's brother) for farming knowledge and most of all Kazu San for the hospitality and valuable experience at Nakagomi Orchard. We will always treasure the great time we had with you, your family and the other voluteers that we met there.

Best Wishes,

I've stayed in Nakagomi orchard during 22 June 2012-19 July, and return again during 15-21 Aug.
As my first wwoofing destination, Nakagomi is amazing. Here, I got free fruits to eat all the time. The three hosts: Kazu, Yoko-san and her husband are so kind that they ask all the time if we got the biggest peach, sweetest plum or fresh pears. I was lucky also to wwoof there cuz so many wwoofers from all around the world just make there like a miniature of UN! That was a lot of fun.

About the work, it's true that working hours are long enough to make you tired or get bored. But teatime and dinner time is always a delight. You may find out that you are not in an "intimate little family", but as long as you open yourself to others they will open to you! That's what exactly I've done.

As for the two awful reviews...I have to say, different people have different view. For me, I was alone there and felt like having another family in Japan! I love Nakagomi and its kind members.
Why not open your heart and give it a chance? You will obtain more than delicious fruits!:)

I stayed at the farm as a volunteer for 2 weeks, and helped out at the farm. As a volunteer, we work from 8 to 5, and was provided with all 3 meals, plus 2 break times. Kazu-san was a very helpful host and he not only guided us about what to do, he also showed us Japanese culture. Meals were wonderfully prepared by his sister-in-law, and it was always a spread.
We learnt how to pick cherries, peaches, and also how the fruits were pruned and taken care of. They take great pride and effort in taking care of their fruits, and when we tried them, we were very amazed with the quality of the fruits.
If you don't have the time to volunteer or stay at the farm, you can visit to do cherry picking, plum, apple, nectarine, peaches or even grape picking. The fruits are good so it is worth it.
If you want to stay a couple of nights, but would like to relax, you can stay at their guest house, which is very well-decorated and traditionally Japanese. Kazu-san is very helpful and always willing to accommodate to our requests.

I & family stayed in Kazu's place in december 2013. It's a big beautiful Japanese traditional house. All my children love it. Mr Kazu is very friendly & loving, especially to the children. I really appreciate the hospitality during our stay there

Friends
I went to Nakagomi Orchard for a couple of hours of peach picking and eating. The experience was good and the people helping out were friendly. As my friend and I did not drive, although we located the Orchard from the directions on the website, we were unable to locate the exact location where the fruit picking was. It was not until another local farm owner who helped us call the Nakagomi Orchard people did we get to the Orchard safely. Hence, it is suggested that you give the Orchard a call before heading down so that you can locate the place easily! That said, it was much appreciated that we got a ride from the people at the Orchard back to the bus station after our fruit picking! The fruits are fresh and it was a very good experience eating fruits plucked straight from the trees! :) I opted to bring a box of the fruits home, they chose the harder ones, and wrapped it up so well that they are still in perfect condition, despite all my traveling! I would highly recommend this place!
