Tachineputa Museum has exhibits relating to Goshogawara's Tachineputa Festival that is held every August. There were 3 tachineputa floats inside the museum on exhibit. Each float is about 4 stories tall and weighs about 19 tons! There is also a short movies which I enjoyed even thought I don't speak Japanese. The Floats are very colorful paper mache on a... More

The museum is 5 minutes walk from the JR station, just go straight on the main road and you will find it easily. When we entered the museum, we were amazed by the two floats - neputas that are 3-4 storey tall. After having taken a lot of pictures, we took a lift and go upstairs. Along the spiral path... More

The tall building is quite easy to be found and it is certainly worth the visit. It has to be so tall to house really tall neputas, carnival style lanterns - floats. The restarant above has great views and good prices.

I was here for the festival which I think is the main tourism for this town. The floats come out of here and so you have to come and visit. There is also a restaurant on the top floor and some souvenir and food vendors on the first floor. A definite highlight is to see the float coming out of... More

Around the start of August each year there is a festival and this is where the giant lantern displays are made for the big parade. You must g and visit and see the floats a lot of time and effort have gone into making them

Never had we seen such kind of Giant Lantern Display, it was really a different kind of astonished feeling. The design of the whole "museum" is wonderful as we could walk all the way from 4th floor down to ground floor without taking any stairs. Remember to check for the short movie clip show schedule. You can watch it halfway... More
