The place looks interesting from outside, but the whole area, castle and other attractions were closed for renovations. A lady told us in poor English that it is going to be closed for 8 years. I hope she meant 8 months or weeks.

They did a very nice job of serving us and the facility is well kept. The castle is very interesting with small windows with information of the life of Xavier .

We really wanted to go to the castle because my family is from Navarra and have a lot of Francisco Javier’s in the family. Is a very nice restore castle and if you are catholic is a very symbolic place. The tour was very interesting.

This castle began in the 10th century as a watch tower and was completed in the 14th century. The castle is not large, but it is well worth a visit. We wished we had allowed more time - there were a lot of interesting objects to view and the museum was very well done.
