My son spent 5 days in the December holidays at Bushbaby Care, a holiday activity organised by WESSA at Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve and had a blast. They went on walks into the reserve and learnt all about differetn animals, the talk and live show on snakes was a winner.

Having not visited Umngeni Valley for some time, it was great to rediscover the path down to the Shelter Trail. Unfortunately the office was closed so we did not have a map, but the paths are very easy to follow. It was sad to see the dilapidated condition of the campsites, and the roads leading there. Perhaps they are not... More

This past Christmas holiday I stayed at the chalets at Umgeni Valley for the third time. This is the perfect place to stay when visiting family in Howick. We only used the room for the evenings as we spent our days at family members' homes. I enjoy staying here as the rooms are comfortable and welcoming. In the past few... More

Don't let the unimpressive entrance fool you. This place is a must visit for nature lovers. Breathtaking views, amazing hiking trails, beautiful mammals and birds.

We stayed overnight in the delightful anniversary cottage (in our non-4x4 vehicle which made it there just fine). Candlelight, firewood, hot water and a stunning sunrise streaming in through the window made for a romantic getaway in a beautiful place. We couldn't believe we were still in Howick as we looked out from our porch on to the ridges and... More

We are lucky enough to reside next door to the Valley and each day when we drive out heading for town we usually see Zebra, Blesbok, Impala and more browsing on their side of the fence. We visited the Valley for their Family Fun Day and there were many people there with their children. There were activities organised for the... More

Umgeni Valley is so beautiful and I love it - it is a place of peace and tranquility. If you are passing through Howick it is worth a visit whether staying or just a quick drive through. The road through the nature reserve is a little bumpy but worth the jutters just to see the wildlife and spectacular view. I... More

Chalets recently upgraded are fantastic. Great game drives with abundance of antelope species. Place is well kept and clean. Location is central for exploring the Natal Midlands.
