Meerendal was always our go to place for a lazy lunch on the lawn where our kids could run around and play. The setup at Carluccis was perfect for adults to keep an eye on their little ones as the play area was right there. The new setup with LA Romantica and Bossa is fancy, but completely impractical for adults with small kids who want to play. The play area is about 40m away from both restaurant seating areas. They have 4 benches under the trees at the playbarea which is great, but we were told they will not serve any alcohol there, only wine??? Huh? Although kiddy friendly, not toddler friendly as moms and dads need to completely remove themselves from the restaurant area to watch kids who want to play.

After Diemersdale we made a stop at Meerendale and, unfortunately, we have to say not to compare. Wines are not good and overpriced, service not there - we haven't even got a explanation to the wines. They just fill the glas and go without anything. Restaurant we don't know but as far as we've seen loud and overcrowded. The wine tasting area is not nice at all

I was brought here for my Sun-in-Law’s birthday celebration. I cannot comment on prices.
The day we were here it was cold, but on entering Bossa, there was a well guarded fire burning. Everything about Bossa exuded warmth. The food was delicious. The views were stunning, the staff amazing, everything about Meerendal exuded a ‘Welcome’.
Wonderful day, from a personal perspective I can only hope I return here.

We stayed in the Luxury double room suite - Chardonnay it was just what we needed. Beautiful, spacious room with complementary wine & water and chocies on the bed! The bathroom was superb and we got little birds visiting us every morning from the bathroom window. Surrounded by picturesque views. There’s great walking, running & cycling trails to get you moving & two restaurants on site that would suit your breakfast needs 🇿🇦🇮🇹

After a nice parkrun with wife and 3x kids (and 8x other friends and their kids) thought we would enjoy n nice breakfast @ Bossa.
Only to be shown away and said they are full.
When asked why are their so many open benches, was mentioned it was for boookings!
How do you show away walk in clients like this?
Horrible service! Won’t see us again in future!!!

We ate at Il Tesoro - birthday part celebration.
Where they booked us the people were still eating and were going nowhere ????
After waiting around for a long time - they found us a place in a barn.
Problem is that the waiter had to go back to the main venue for drinks and food.
Weird long table - those who sat against the wall could not get out.
Service very slow.
We got the Pizzas and the 20min later the Chilli and Garlic - this really cheesed me off.
Took a while to get the bill.
Place is overrun with cyclists.
Will never eat there again.

We have eaten a pleasant breakfast here before, but had lunch after our wine tasting this day; what a very average experience the former was. So disappointed. Staff were busy erecting an art exhibition which included some quite alarming pieces, but obviously that's subjective. The wine tasting room is cold, like a dentist's waiting room. We sat on horrible sofas in a corner, but the atmosphere was dead. No view, no warm welcome or pleasant interaction. We felt thoroughly in the way. Would have gone elsewhere if we hadn't already made plans. Extra disappointed as I had recently been with a friend in Luzern, Switzerland who has met the Meerendal owner there and was so excited to know the wine farm is so close by to us. He proudly showed me the bottle of wine he had been given there.
Lunch was a much more engaging affair with good food and a pleasant garden vibe.

We had breakfast in the Crown Restaurant which was deserted apart from a few hotel residents having their breakfast (Hotel looks beatuiful by the way - old Dutch-style building). Really interesting decor; we chose one of the two circular booths and avoided the swings (I kid you not - looked very precarious to me!). We enjoyed all the food we chose and took a look through both the lunch and dinner menus as well before we left. Defintiely warrants another visit; some fabulous sounding meals. Bit concerned that their sprinklers were on at all and for so long when the drought is so severe here...
Will return somewhen for a wine tasting. Our son would enjoy the opprotunity to hire a bike and ride some of those trails too.

We had a meal at the restaurant , the food was decent but not "wow". We also did a wine tasting, the wines were pretty good, just a pity for the small tasting glasses.
