We stayed here for 4 nights and it was a great experience. Hosts and staff are extremely friendly and very helpful making you feel cozy. Location is clean, peaceful and very well maintained overall, with a harmonious architecture. We had a great breakfast and the wines are amazing. A must try for sure! Great place to spend some days in Smederevo! Highly recommend it!

On a recent business trip to Belgrade I took an afternoon off to visit local wineries. Belgrade has its own wine region, with 13 wineries with protected denomination of origin. The appellations are to the south towards Lazarevac and to the east towards Smederevo, with no direct road between them. Time being a factor, I could chose only one. Lazarevac is a coal mining town, while Smederevo is a port on the Danube - no brainer. I visited two wineries. This review is about Jeremić Winery in Smederevo. The other winery, Plavinci, is reviewed separately.
Jeremić winery is an architectural jewel. Simple, clean lines but warm materials that make a visitor feel good even before the wine tasting. Jeremić has six labels and makes about 4000 cases a year. I tried Sonata, a typical Sauvignon blanc, but particularly well crafted. Probably the best Sauvignon blanc I tried in Serbia. Then there was Sonata Icone, Sauvignon blanc fermented in new 500 liter untoasted Icone oak barrel. This was something truly special. Less fruity, tropical, with a hint of tannin. Their red, Kanon, is a standard Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot blend. Smooth, with soft tannins and full mouthfeel. Excellent, though not extraordinary. Wines are a great value for under $10. I also tried their premium Merlot Terroir, a single vineyard wine aged for 36 months in medium toast new French Oak barriques. Extraordinary wine but with a $30 price tag. I would gladly pay this much for this wine back home in Texas, but it is very expensive for Serbia. All in all, a very enjoyable visit, warm and very friendly hosts, excellent wine, good times. If you are into wine or architecture, don't miss it.
4 stars only because the tastings are conducted standing up. Older people might have a problem.

We drove from Belgrade to Smederevo and on the way home decided to follow the Danube. We are quite happy we did that as we saw a sign for this winery and decided to stop in. We were the only car there, so we went in to see if we could do a wine tasting. Happily the guy there let us in, gave us a tour of the facilities (which are currently under construction) and then let us try all 4 of their wines. They offer a white, rose, red and a white that they recommend to have with a "kisela voda - sparkling water to make it more like a spritzer. We tried them all and bought a case of wines to take home. The red kanon was our favorite, a dry red Merlot/Cabernet.I highly recommend a visit here if you are in the area.
