The name fahr(T)raum pays homage to Ferdinand Porsche, the pioneer of the Austrian automotive industry, his team and their prominent role they played in the development of mobility. The world of adventure in Mattsee combines innovation, experience and contemporary history and serves at the same time as a space full of history and stories that focus on extraordinary exhibits between nostalgia and technological progress with interactive media. A veritable highlight for visitors of all ages. Children are welcome to explore their technical talent in a separate area.

This small museum has a limited collection of sport autos, tractors and assorted automotive related equipment. The sports car enthusiast would be better served by a visit to one of the several museums in larger cities. The 13€ admission is rather steep for what you get in Mattsee.

Wonderful modern museum in a beautiful rural area and historic town with a 900 yo monastery and church history. The museum offers easily understandable teaching tools demonstrating how electric motors, hybrid technology, limited slip transmission etc. work all of which were invented many years ago. Beautiful collection of original "firsts" including airplane engines and gorgeous automobiles but no new cars... More

I have seen many old car museum, but this one was by far the best. A lot of the exibits are interactive and the collection of porsche tracktors is worth looking at. The model car racing track is fun for young and old. The race track simulators are very good and you have the feeling that you are on a... More

There are some lovely historic exhibits here, but also a lot of hands-on activities for children and grown-ups. There is sadly no guide-book available yet, but the shop is developing, and there is a small area for coffee/refreshments with some really novel tables. The farming museum - tractors mostly, but some lovely rural scenes - is downstairs. It's really easy... More

The quote in the title is from my wife who is not particularly interested in cars but has been dragged around enough car museums by me to know a good one when she sees it. I would echo Latoya's review and add that the exhibits are very accessible and visitors are trusted to respect them even though most are extremely... More

From the history standpoint, this place was great and I did learn a few things. It is a small museum with about 15 cars total. When I was there, either the simulators were not working, or there was no one there willing to come over and ask if I wished to use one of them. This is the only automotive... More

Fahrtraum is much more than a museum. It is an event for the entire family. Everyone will be amazed by the foresight of the Porsche family and their deep love for engineering and cars. Young people will understand gears, electric motors, tractors, and so much more. This is a must visit for car lovers, especially Porsche lovers!
