nice wide beach
Aug 2019
The beach is a swallow water beach. Nice sand and plenty of space to walk. We had stayed the for summer holidays and enjoyed the water and the walking around the beach ... in addition to the memories of WWII

always a sobering experience, it become even more poignant to visit during the 2019 75th anniversary of D-day, with an amazing veteran whom disembarked here and who was returning for his first time. plenty of reenactment around and on the beach

Puts things in perspective
Nov 2019
People have to imagine how vast the landing area was to appreciate this. This occurred over miles not blocks of distance. Everything done with taste and respect for all those who died. I had to see it as one must appreciate what it took to enjoy what one has.

Thankyou Canada
Sep 2019
Visited this beach in recognition of the 75th anniversary.

To stand on the beach and then visit the gun emplacement brings home just how exposed the Canadian troops were.

45,000 Canadians lost their lives during the war 359 on D Day - thank you.

A Big place in history
Sep 2019
This has an amazingly huge place in history and Canadian history even more so. It must be expected that the area and landscape have moved on though and you have to look for the reminders of the D Day landings. The coast is littered with D Day memorials and museums. Many are in my opinion in poor taste, but that is an opinion only. You have to go a little ways in land to find the cemeteries. Like the western front the tourist boards are now trying to cash in on historical events and again like the Western Front some of these are worthwhile and well worth bothering with, but pick and chose where you visit.

Disgusting sewage polluted beach
Sep 2019
There was a horrible smell of sewage when we got out of the car and as we walked around to the the river discharging into the sea it got worse. The water from the river had a grey scummy look and the point at which it met the sea there were hundreds of seaguls suggesting a major sewage discharge. The beach stank and as we stepped over seaweed we noticed toilet paper and other obvious signs of sewage discharge.

I would recommend staying away for here until its sorted out.

Thought provoking
Jun 2019
We were lucky when we came here it was the day before the 75th commemoration. We followed a convoy of about 30 police motorcycles into town, then they all pulled over for breakfast! We carried on to the beach, the whole town was buzzing and it was just like a film set with most people in uniforms or 40's style clothes.
The beach was peaceful and quiet on an overcast and soon to be drizzly morning, we sat by the big cross and thought of the final sacrifice made by the soldiers.
Then we went into the bunker and walked down to the Juno centre were preparations were well underway to receive the dignitaries. The centre was very informative.
The beaches are worth a visit to put history into context

Historic Beach
Jul 2019 • Couples
We visited this beautiful beach as part of our Normany tour. The beach was an important part of DDay history where Canadian soldiers landed and many lives were lost liberating Europe. The beach today is tranquil but being here brought the past to life. We were able to spend some time on the beach and reflect on the sacrifices that were made here so that we can enjoy freedoms. We also took in the Juno Beach Centre which was fantastic. The whole site was an emotional experience, one that should be taken if you are traveling in the area......

To think that we lost so many troops on such a beautiful beach, it was an emotional trip and 1 that should not be taken lightly.

Tranquil recreation with world history
Jun 2019 • Couples
The Canadian troops was assigned to land at "Juno beach" (e.g. the beach of Courseulles-sur-Mer) and experienced less misery than their comrades on Omaha beach...
Nevertheless, many sacrifices of human lives was made during the invasion and Juno reminds us of what price democracy and freedom must pay for staying in our world.

The Juno beach center, the Canadian war museum in essence, is well worth a visit.

Today Juno beach is a lovely ocean spot for leisure. The long pier is inviting for a walk in the sunset.
