Local Handicrafts
Feb 2020
This is the place to get your one stop local handicrafts when in Sibu. Lot's of interesting local souvenirs and reasonably priced. Take your time to browse... however note that the place is quite cramp. Otherwise good for a visit

Formally is the Sibu Municipal Council Office. Now transformed to town's museum due to less of parking spaces and towards upgrading public services.
At the ground floor, you can purchase some local hand-making souvenirs and household utensils produced by bumiputera ethnic groups .

Time travel into the history of Sibu
Jan 2020
The heritage centre is highly educational. Unfortunately, the commercial units are all shut except for one or two outlets. The shop selling native products is interesting. I bought two rattan mats which, according to the shopowner, were weaved by the Penan in Ulu Kapit (though I suspect they were from Indonesia). All the same, I was happy for the price I paid for.

Great little place

We really enjoyed this well laid out free museum. It was not large but very well curated and had interesting displays with English captions at every turn. It was also super cool with the aircon.

Great place to learn about Sibu
Feb 2019
This was a very interesting place to visit. Leaned a lot about the tribes, their lifestyles, the town of Sibu, the war etc. The clothing, cooking ware, the tools, miniature replicas, the photos were all well presented. Worth it if you are in town.

We love the heritage centre. They have very interesting information about Sibu and the citizens. You can see complete information about al the different cultures and the history till now. We learn a lot from this visit and the entree is free! The visitors information centre is downstairs.

Worth visiting
Dec 2018 • Family
Sibu Heritage Centre contains a small local museum, which presents an interesting display of local history. There is also a souvenir shop in which Borneo crafts can be bought at quite affordable prices.

Wonderful place to visit. Lots of exhibit. Short walk but covers many things. Free of charge. Unfortunately, pictures and photos not allowed. This place Definately deserve more publicity!

informative, nice little display about the town
Apr 2018 • Family
This place is a nice little display with information about the town. most displays are done in Chinese, English and Malay so it should be quite convenient to anyone. The displays while informative, are quite brief as well so if you want to know more you need to dig deeper else where.
entrance is free.
