Slow and bad service
Aug 2021 • Friends
The service could not be any worse!! Almost half of the people don’t even look at you, when you get ask something they ignore you or say they are getting their colleague but no one shows. When you finally get your order its not even correct! They wont ever see me again..

Good place for a relaxing afternoon
Apr 2017 • Friends
A couple of years ago this beach had a bunch of dismal restaurants and was a bit dirty, but now there are a just few restaurants set back off the beach, and they will bring beers and food out to your towels and umbrellas happily. There are still a few too many ice cream hawkers and other annoying people trying to sell you things for anyone's taste, but this describes all of the beaches close to Lima. My son likes to swim here (no rip tides on this beach), and its a good place to meet friends and hang out and talk without the longer drive and pretentious "scene" of the beaches in Asia.

Clean renewed beach!
Apr 2016 • Friends
The old restaurants in the beach front have been cleared up. No more contamination! The few restaurants left are good and clean and are located under the cliff, not obstructing the beach view. The ocean is calm and in good swells you have the best waves!

They Tore down the Restaurants!!!
Mar 2016 • Family
I am not sure what happened, but the restaurants have been torn down. At this time, I am uncertain if the beach is open to the public.

Kind of gross...
Jan 2016 • Friends
El Silencio beach is the closest “beach” outside of Lima (about 25 mins). There were patches of the water that were very opaque, but other patches that were normal. I’m sure the opaque parts were just “minerals” in the water or something, but it was a bit much for me when I looked down and thought I was standing in black coffee…

It was definitely better than nothing, but the beaches back in the States are nicer. (We only had half an afternoon’s worth of time, so we couldn’t go all the way to Asia.)

If you are choosing between one of the many restaurants/bars along the beach, we went to “Milagritos.” Our local guide took us there because she trusts their food. The service was good. He was definitely eager to serve us.

Gorgeous beach
Jun 2015
Silencio Beach is gorgeous, soft white sands generously sprinkled with brightly colored shells, gentle sea breeze, gentle ocean waves, and pelicans diving for fish. I went back several times over several days and it was always gorgeous!

Easy day trip
Feb 2015 • Family
We enjoyed our day at El Silencio. However, we went early and during the week day. This is not a beach for young children. It lacks zero depth entry and if a child gets too close to where the waves are breaking they run the risk of being pulled into some rather deep water. However, if you have a mixture of older and younger children you can arrange to have a small pool set up by your chair for the little ones and let the older children play in the ocean.
The beach is crescent shaped and completely covered in restaurants, though it does appear that there is some open areas on the extreme left if you are facing the ocean. The idea is that for a minimum purchase you can use the chairs and umbrellas of the restaurant whose chairs you occupy. They seemed to be rather relaxed about the amount you spent on the day I was there. I also got the impression that you could bargain with the restaurants regarding this. We brought heavy snacks and the did not say anything to us regarding consumption. They did say they would charge a corkage fee, but we did not bring alcohol so I don't know how much this is enforced.
We went to the Coco Beach restaurant. I enjoyed their chairs and found the food surprisingly tasty. Though it is not super cheap. We spent 66 soles on mostly soda.
There are a lot of vendors strolling the beach, they are easily waved off with a small head shake. I did not find them a nuisance.
You do have to pay 10 soles to park.
Overall, I found it a nice relaxing experience.

Beautiful beach, great for surfers!
May 2013 • Family
Great beach, small town, need to go in private car as going by bus is not very accessible.
In my opinion you have to know how to swim well to get into this beach, good for surfers.

Cold water, high waves, pushy sales people
Jan 2012 • Friends
El Silencio beach might have been a great place to visit at one time in the past, but it is not anymore. The water is cold, there are high waves, making it less than ideal to visit with a family (or coming out of the water without having been upside down), but the worst is the pushy sales people. They really push you to rent chairs, or buy drinks/food. They will also try to swindle you out of money any way you can. Regardless, if you are looking for a quiet beach where you can have a nice swim, this is definitely not the place, regardless of what the name might suggest.
