Fossano is a place for smart people.

I didn't like it for several things: signals nearby castle are not clears. No english version. If there's a road close to the traffic, there's no another signal to go back. Bad buildings nearby the castle. Theese buildings have been built for poor people (far from other necessity). In the corridor of castle in the main enter there's no cartel with some pictures about castle. The Leonardo's exhibition was in three different places. In a church a person couldn't enter without the ticket of Leonardo's exhibition!!! The church is FREE FOR EVERYONE!!! JUST SMART PEOPLE WANT GAIN MONEY!! A nice town manage by stupid people.

Great old town

I wasn't prepared to find such a nice place with nice people. At lunch time a lovely lady met on the main street suggested an amazing place to eat and even brought us there.

Some lovely architecture in this small area with good views of the surrounding mountains. Somewhat surprising since it's not a ritzy place at all

Lovely for a short trip

We spent out wedding anniversary in Fossano and stayed at the impressive Palazzo Righini. We were lucky to be able to see the Wednesday morning market which is incredibly large with all sorts of vendors selling everything imaginable: incredible food, fruits and vegetables, local delights, clothes, fabrics, toys, and even gardening tools. The old town is easy to walk around and a short walk from the main train station. There are plenty of wonderful little boutiques on the main street open in the morning and afternoon (closed during lunch). The covered sidewalks are a welcomed relief from the hot summer sun. The restaurants are incredibly affordable too. The first week of August offers open air, professional classical music concerts in the square by Via Giuseppe Garibaldi. We ate dinner at the Vineria in Piazzetta restaurant whose very kind owner hauled a table and chairs outside for us to sit and watch the open-air concert in the square while we dined on a 15eur-per-person three-course meal including water and wine. Unforgettable!!!

Worth a short visit
May 2016
We walked around the historic city center when recently staying at Palazzo Ringhini. We chose Fossano expressly for our hotel rather than any particular attractions in the town, which is a charming large town/small city in the heart of the Piedmont. While Fossano is a reasonable alternative to Asti and Alba, on the larger side, or Barolo, etc. on the smaller one as a base and it has a couple of very nice churches, an impressive castle and a nice main street, for those staying elsewhere, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit unless you have ample time.

Traditional Piemont village
Apr 2016 • Couples
Don't expect any wow factor in this village but enjoy its atmosphere and main street with traditional shops under a covered arcade...and relax!

A walk with the family
Jan 2016 • Family
The Fossano downtown is nice. All the walks under "portici con le volte a pavaione". Several shops that seems not been affected by the time as well as new ones. For us it was a foggy/rainy day not the best for a visit or an opportunity to see it from a different perspective. There are also panoramic view points not far.

Small historic centre

It's a nice place to visit for an hour but only if you stay here. It's not worth visiting on itself. The positive thing is that everthing is Italian. you don't see that many tourists. In restaurants and bars the majoriy is Ialian.
