We went recently with the Amazing Italy group tour and Mr Boni welcomed us and gave a truly knowledgeable and passionate explanation of his balsamic vinegar production. The cellar was beautifully decorated and you could smell the vinegar the moment you enter the farmhouse. He allowed us to taste his balsamic vinegar (the DOP variety of course) and they were fantastic. We bought a few bottles, cheaper than in the shops and had a truly enjoyable visit. Definitely recommend this aceitaia when visiting the area.

Acetaia Boni is a farm located a few minutes from Maranello home of Ferrari!
Before to visit this estate I didn't know the difference between the balsamic vinegar we usually buy in a grocery and the traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena.
To sum up I was driving a FIAT car but Mr. Romano Boni offered me a ride on his Ferrari!!!
The owner of the estate a young man his very friendly and welcomes personally the clients. You'll find him always there but I suggest you make a reservation before to go.
He takes you to visit the farm and the "acetaia" which is the cellar for the vinegar barrels. The visit also included a tasting of 15 and 30 years old traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena. It's simply amazing!
Naturally you can purchase and the prices are relly reasonable compared to the ones in downtown Modena or Bologna.
If you visit the Ferrari Museum don't miss to stop there!

Sometimes even the most well-meaning product tours featuring excellent products (I’m talking to you — almost every winery tour I’ve ever taken) can be colossal snoozes. But NOT this one!

Much of that is do to the skilled and affable guide/family member/owner who shares the nuances of fine balsamic vinegar in a fresh, clear, even exciting way. You’ll learn, you’ll sample and you won’t be bored... promise!

When one enjoys and is passionate about what he is doing, it ceases to be a job. That may be the case at Romano Boni's Azienda Agricola, where he clearly relishes imparting the creative process involved, the difference in taste of vinegar aged for 7,15,20,30 and 100 years, the history of his facility and his family's tradition.

Through the AMAZING ITALY Food and Ferrari day tour, we thoroughly enjoyed the visit, the tasting spread Romano prepared. We all appreciated the nuances of the richer-tasting traditional modena balsamic vinegar aged through several time periods. This resulted in my husband's purchase of several bottles of vinegar in assorted ages, filling a heavy box (or 2 boxes!). Romano graciously agreed to ship it for us, in time for our arrival in Rome, 2 weeks hence. Rome was our first and last stop on our "24-day re-visiting Italy trip," and the boxes arrived at our hotel after a day.

We didn't open them till we reached the Philippines, praying that they would survive the long flight. The 2 heavy boxes filled with many INTACT "bottles of passion and patience" were a sight to behold- and VERY gratifying to taste. We will certainly enjoy it, while our supply lasts...or ask Romano to ship it overseas! It definitely deserves the reference - BLACK GOLD in a bottle.

On our way to Florence we stopped by and got a quick private tour of the facility. The owner spoke great English and gave us a tour of how vinegar is made. He offered us salami, bread, wine and ice cream. It was a really good experience and it was a well spent 30 mins. We bought a few bottles and can't wait to try it at home. If you are into food and anywhere within 1-2 hours of this place, you really should stop by.

By coincidence we stopped by to discover aged balsamico. What an experience! very warm welcome, very knowledgeable host and amazing products, some dating back 150 years. Time travel does exist;)
Family business for four generations, where passion meets excellence.
I liked aged balsamico, now i absolutely love it!!!
It s an easy stop along the way if you are around Modena, hotels are near by as well.

This visit to Romano Boni Acetaia was part of a day tour to discover Reggiano parmagiano, prosciutto and balsamico and the Ferrari Museum. Romano gave an excellent explanation of the history and processes involved with the production of this magnificent product. Although I have used balsamic vinegar for many years, to taste the age and flavours of these genuine balsamicos was divine. A purchase of a couple of bottles of the beautifully packaged 15 year old was a must and survived a month in my suitcase til returning to Oz. The museum and his collection of equipment relating to centuries of balsamic production was also fascinating. Highly recommend a visit.
