I absolutely recommend this place, the banana plants are very interesting and you can take there a lot of cool pictures. However, without a guide you only see plants and just a couple of sentences on boards, really a few information, and at the end of the tour you can taste and buy some products - OK, can be still great but...the guided tour is highly recommended if you really want to learn a lot of things about banana, the life on the farm etc. It is not emphasized on the farm's webpage but from 11 a.m. every day these days one of the staff members does actually a kind of guided tour for people visiting the place by ourselves not in groups (otherwise a guided tour is available only for visitor groups in the afternoons, unfortunately). I contacted the place in advance to get this information, possibly the time can change or this meet-up is not always organized etc. so I recommend to contact them before your visit to take the most out of this activity. Our guide was a really nice and enthusiastic woman who was an experienced worker at the farm herself so knew everything about banana and presented that in a very fun and enjoyable way.
Tasting at the end of the tour was a plus, I learned what gofio is and could taste different products made of gofio and/or banana. You are then really not pushed to buy anything in the shop but I recommend to look around there as the prices are quite fair. I purchased dessert souvenirs, little rolls made of gofio and almond, I could not recall the Spanish name but they were really tasty, try it (finally I ate them by myself during my holiday in Tenerife instead of bringing them back home...my poor family :D). Banana wine is also quite cheap there compared to the other products we found later in the island.

The visit to Fincas Las Margaritas truly exceeeded our expectations. We arrived at 11 and we went throught the self-guide tour. Mid-way, one of the workers in the farm indicated to us that shall we give her few minutes to finish her explanation to a small group she was talking to she will be able to assist us. The lady was incredible, very insightful and you could really tell that she loved sharing her knowledge. We were also impressed with all the languages she could speak: French, English, portugueses and obviously Spanish. I am a French , Spanish and English speaker and given that my husband only speaks Polish and English we opted for English. She explained to us the fact that bananas actually come from an herb, how the banana grow. The exchange was not limited to how bananas grow , she shared few anecdotes from her grand-father who used to gro bananas and about the culture of canarian people. It was a truly enjoyable conversation that made the visit truly memorable. We got also a sense of the philosophy of the Fincas they truly care about growing quality bananas. We culd go within the fields explore, they were also panels with information in many languages . At the end of the visit we got a degustation of gofia a canrian speciality, canarian white whine and mojo. All was delicious and available to buy. The gentleman was very kind and gave us few bananas. Few things to note : you can pay for the entrance and for the goods by card which was a nice surprise. Also we really like the food so we asked if it is possible to come just to go to the small shop and the gentleman told us you only pay for the 1st visit so we could come back any time. It was very educational visit, we truly learnt something and the people really made it special. Volveremos!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Finca Las Margaritas. Despite it being marketed as a self-guided tour, we had the privilege of getting a full explanation. It was very interesting to hear about the process from embryo to full-grown banana plant. The staff was really friendly and accomodating. At the end of the tour, there is a demonstration of how gofio is made as well as a tasting of local specialties such as mojo and banana wine. You also have the option to buy some products, but there is no pressure at all which I appreciated (although I highly recommend the wine!). Definitely worth a visit while on the island.

I really loved this trip out. It was far more interesting and enjoyable than I expected it to be and very informative. The staff were exceptional, especially Ana, who showed us around. We had a self-directed walk around first and then had a demonstration of some banana products, followed by tasting. We then had the guided talk and tour by Ana. Ana is bubbly, fun and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this excursion.

The interactive plantation tour at Finca Las Margaritas is excellent for both adults and families alike. We learned all about the curiosities of the banana crop, walked throughout the fields to see the different growing stages of the plant, and even visited the papaya and mango orchards. The property is huge, but also has an intimate feel to it—I felt like I was in a scene from the jungle book! The tour ended with a tasting of various banana products like salad dressings, gofio with banana, dried fruits, etc. Anna was an excellent, informative, and cheery guide—I highly recommend requesting your tour with her!

Originally we were going to do the self-guided tour, but are so thankful we did the tour with a guide. Why? The information you can read is clear and helpful, but the guide added so much more by telling us personally about the experience of managing the banana plants and asking us a few questions in order to open our eyes to all we were seeing. One plant can have a grandmother, mother, child and baby all growing at the same time. Pretty cool! We were also able to sample some products which tasted delicious.

We did self guided tour and didn't regret.
There are 8 stops with information on wood descs in many languages. Also mango, papaya and avocado trees are there.
In the end there is a tasting area where the owner gives to taste different products out of bananas and even banana wine. You can pay by card there, which is very comfortable.
In covid times there are desinfection ecerywhere and prices fir visits are lower to attract people, which we found very nice.

Was looking for things to do with a 5 yo after missing to book the Teide cable car and found this banana plantation. Ana, our guide was welcoming, genuine, funny, entertaining and knowledgeable, so I found the tour to be really interesting. My son also enjoyed the tasting part of tour and we bought some yummy products to go.

Not a flashy, touristy place, but a touch of the real Tenerife with real locals - not something you see if you stay in resorts and only visit the theme parks. Thoroughly recommended!

We arrived and were thinking this would be a tour that could get boring after a few minutes... I mean, how much can be said about Bananas? However, it was a fascinating tour! We were guided by Anna today who's immense experience, passion, insights and wonderful personality really made it enjoyable from start to finish. A must-visit for a family.

Absolutely amazing! We took a part in a conducted tour and it was really nice and informative. The guide spoke 3 different languages which was great because everyone could learn a lot. You can try different products made from bananas and they were delicious. For me it was one of the best places on Tenerife
