It stands on the highest point of the city, built on several occasions starting from 1198 until the end of the works followed by Bramante at the end of the fifteenth century. Exactly in 1492 as reported by the plaque placed under the access arch.
With its climbing bodies it reaches 56 meters in height
The belfry, inaccessible to the public, houses the seventeenth-century bell, slightly silenced (a slice of the bell was removed) in the nineteenth century because its original sound was too loud and did not let the inhabitants sleep since it rang and still does every half hour

This tower with its shape is the landmark of Vigevano and is the gate to the castle. It can be climbed for a small fee and you can get the best view of the city and surrounding area.

As in many medieval towers in Italy each section has its own history. Built originally as a guard tower on the lookout for approaching enemies,it gradually became an integral part of the castle.grounds.

A tower of 1200, unfortunately totally empty (the reproduction of the Sacred Shroud , which should be in the lower floors, by the Savoys, is not visible). From the middle of the tower (unfortunately it is not possible to go up to the top), you can see a beautiful view of the square and the castle but nothing more. A real pity.

The tower is lovely. Not expensive to go up and a small display on one floor. Could only go half way up but the view was good out on to the square. Enjoyed

Exploring the Piazza, I stumbled across this area of the tower. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go up. The stairs are a bit narrow so high shoes not recommended, however, once up there, the view is amazing! Beautiful structure in indeed.

An impressive piece of architecture by the master, Bramante. Overlooking the exquisite Renaissance Piazza Ducale and also the interior of the ruined Castello Sforzesco. A good photographic opportunity

A hundred steps to get to see a beautiful view of Vigevano.
3 euros for the climb seems fair to me.
Too bad the day wasn't clear, but there was great potential.

Absolutely worth seeing if you visit the city of Vigevano.
By checking the opening hours it is also possible to climb the tower, to enjoy a truly evocative view of the city's rooftops.
