This mill was a wedding gift from Ludovico Sforza (Duke of Milan in the XV century and Leonardo’s patron) for his wife and is said that Leonardo helped to design this mill while staying at the castle in town before going to Milan to start “the Last Supper”. It is also said that in this mill, the Duke used to have clandestine meetings with Cecilia Gallerani, yes she, “the Lady with an Ermine”... Is located in the city outskirts in agricultural area, there is a parking lot entering in a anonymous street in front of a small church or if driving surround the place, there are three spots to park cars but watch the road carefully because of the gutter. Has a collection of Leonardesque sketches and machines, all wooden made. Is small, modest maybe underwhelming if compared to those ones in Amboise and Milan (the one located by the Duomo Scala) but this place has a “hidden” historical value associated with this genious (apart of being a science and art polymath he did wedding plans for the Sforza’s and planned parties in his last years in Amboise). Kids can have some fun by blocking or opening the canal locks (watch them, obviously); downside: not much English and for the disabled.
