This square has maintained its Renaissance air until today. Born as an antechamber of the castle, wanted by Ludovico il Modo: steeped in history. It is possible to observe the original porticoes and frescoes. The facade of the cathedral of St. Ambrose closes this beautiful quadrilateral.

Vigevano is a small town close to Milan. Piazza Ducale is really nice, historical site from 1492. Situated next to Castello Sforzesco where you can find several museums including Leonardiana with reproductions of works by Leonardo da Vinci. Vigevano has a huge shoemaking history.

Beautiful piazza, great to sit in one of the cafes; drink, see and relax. The day we arrived there was a military exhibition, so full of people and life.

This is an interesting town (I have to come back because didn’t had the time to visit other attractions and to appreciate well the details) if looking something out of Milan with historical interest (in reality is historically connected with the Sforza and Leonardo) this town is worth a visit.

I’m not sure where to start, but we were seated in the back corner of the restaurant, which is fine, but the food was horrible and the service was just as bad. My kids got cheese burgers for around 19 euro each and it was like eating Walmart hamburger out of the freezer sections in USA. Also the cheese wasn’t even melted. My wife and I ordered steak medium rare and it came out like beef jerky and that was 30 euro each. The waiter never came back but to give our bill after we called them over. The staff did more standing around at the bar than helping people. I guess we should have ordered pasta instead of meat. We have been in 5 countries in the past 3 weeks and this was the worst meal we have eaten. I would avoid this place at all costs.

It’s undoubtedly one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, reminding of the ideal city of Renaissance. Everything’s perfect, the porches on three sides with nice shops and bars, the tower by Bramante, the curved facade of the cathedral. Unmissable if you travel in the area.

One of the loveliest piazzas in Italy. Interesting shops and restaurants. Bramante tower, Sforzesco Castle and St Ambrogio Cathedral all within 10 minutes walk. Just a perfect little town just outside of Milano.

Large Renaissance square with the cathedral on one side, the castle on another side and the wonderful arcades on three sides.
Begun in 1492 at the behest of Ludovico il Moro on the model of a Roman court described by Vitruvius with frescoed access arches like all the walls above the porticoes

This evening I'm in the beautiful town of Vigevano, not too far from Milano. In the pictures you could appreciate the wonderful Piazza Ducale.

one of the nicest piazzas in Italy (tough record to beat), but Vigevano is a suprise to most visitors. It is next to the Castle where you can "meet" Leonardo, the Sforza's etc. worth a trip
