About
Mellett's Emporium is an original Old Worlde Pub that has been in the Mellett Family since 1797 and seven generations. Although there have been many changes to the business since it first opened i.e. You can no longer purchase groceries, arrange your funeral or book your boat to America, the pub still retains its original character. On display in the pub is a vast collection of antiques and memorabilia which have been amassed since opening the doors in 1797. Everybody is welcome at Mellett's Emporium where you can relax in front of the roaring fire, watch a match on one of the big screens or enjoy a drink 'al fresco' in the large beer garden. Customers can avail of free WIFI and card payments are accepted.

We were looking for a traditional Irish pub on our way to knock airport to have one last drink to finish our trip.
We kept going until we reached the town of Swinford and decided to park up and have a look at what was open. I must admit I wasn’t too sure about going into Melletts as the outside decor is a bit off putting. However all that fell away when we walked in and spotted that beautiful open fire 🔥. We enjoyed a couple of last drinks in this wonderful pub - the barmaid was welcoming and the toilets looked like they had been newly refurbished. See, never judge a book by it’s cover.
Ended our trip to Mayo on a high. Definitely worth a visit if in town.

I visited here last weekend with some friends. We were served by a young girl called Andrea. She was very sweet and polite, when one of my friends dropped a glass she was very understanding and told us not to worry. She made us feel so welcome. Thank you!! We will be back again!

Loved this bar.
Great beer and crac.
Even on a Sunday night it was rocking. Locals were very friendly. Love to be there on a live band night.

I recall my first visit to Mellett's quite a number of years ago, I thought I had stepped back in time and wished the walls could talk....Since then I have enjoyed more than a few visits, including watching the Mayo - Dublin Finals 2016 on the large screen, (it was the place to be!).

Thanks Joe!

Built in 1797, this pub has all the charm one would expect from a rural Irish pub, plus a huge flat screen tv for watching sporting events . We were clearly the only tourists in the place. Friendly locals, good cold beer on tap.

Great pub with friendly staff. Full of history and stories. Antiques are on display all over the pub. Roasting log fires in cold weather. Great selection of drinks. Spotless toilets.

We are Americans who stayed in Swinford for 2 nights in September. Marie Mellett, the publican and first female owner of Mellett's in hundreds of years, is a kind and welcoming person who will make you feel at home. In fact, everyone who worked here made us feel very welcome. It is beautifully decorated, with all sorts of fascinating things on the wall having to do with the history of the pub. This pub has been in the Mellett family for seven generations. If you want a true Irish pub experience, as it's done in Ireland, go here! I can't recommend Mellett's highly enough!

This pub does need any more five star reviews because it is simply one of the very best pubs in Ireland. This is a tardis of a bar that streches way way back and is decorated from floor to ceiling with 200 years plus of love and effort, of collected local memorabilia. But is a proper real local pub as well, with great beer and sports, and a great outdoor back bar which the younger crowd make their own in the evening. This is a great friendly town and if you are lucky enough to have a night in Melletts i am sure you will agree with me, that this is a very special bar.
Thanks to the great staff for looking after us so well. Will be back.
