Cutbacks at cost to customer experience
Have been to the spa in the past but was dissapointed this visit .Spa areas had a tierd feel , especially around the pool area .Pipes showing signs of rust and some mold ? showing around curtained area as you enter the pool .No extra towels to help yourself too .Robe frayed and rock hard .Dissapointed in treatments .Pedicure - girl was lovely but varnish not lasted despite taking good care as advised .Def not worth £50.Rose quartz facial - again lovely lady but organic products stung my skin and smelt stale . Cafe was very dissapointing .Had to ring for service 3 times and go to Reception to ask if anyone was coming .Nice girl finally came to counter and explained she was putting the bins out . Very limited food on offer and couldn't eat the sandwich full of pickled cumber and loaded with to much filling , so just ate the bread and a few chips . Hotel had a very odd smell , room was nice but windows rotten .Hotel reception staff did not ask for a card swipe for extras on arrival , so when I went to order a drink on my room. I was told to use the app which want working , so I had to get dressed and go to the bar .Not the relaxing experience I was hoping for .Spa reception were matter of fact and not at all friendly. Resturant was lovely however .Friendly professional staff and good food though a little on the expensive side £9 for a Pannacotta ! Nice outside area , though I had to bring to the staffs attention that the outside sofas were soaking wet .When the cushions were removed ,water actually ran out of them ! Just felt the whole place has made so many cutbacks that customer care and attention is suffering .It is a shame as I chose this spa as had previously very much enjoyed , but dissapointed in this last visit sadly

    Girly Spa day
Great day spa with a friend. The lunch was fantastic and great value for money. Facilities were clean and all working and the towels were fluffy and big enough! Staff were great and I had the leg massage which was wonderful.

Best spa experience, total relaxation and great facilities from a returning customer
I visit this spa every few months and went with my friends and it never disappoints. I was welcomed by Emma-Jane who was so friendly and sparked up great conversation. All the staff are tentative and care that you great experience and they’re so helpful. This time I did the morning glory and included a breakfast, it was delicious! Set amongst beautiful grounds overlooking a lake. Claire did a facial demo and it was very insightful and I learnt about the Elemis products. The spa facilities are brilliant and clean. They provide you with luxury toiletries on the premises, so you don’t need to bring your shower gel, shampoo or conditioner. I will definitely be returning soon and it’s an escape and you really do feel like you’ve been submerged into total relaxation and feel the difference when you leave. Yspa, you’re all doing a fabulous and thank you for your kindness. I can’t wait

    Highly recommend! :)
Thoroughly enjoyed my trip to this spa. From the moment we walked in, it felt luxurious. Greeted by really polite and friendly staff and my massage - by Summer - was absolutely wonderful! Summer put me at ease right away. was really friendly and gave a really good massage! Would highly recommend and would definitely go again! Only improvement would be to add relaxing music in the treatment waiting area :)

    Perfect little spa
Just spent a lovely day at this spa with a friend and would totally recommend it. Compared to somewhere like the Center Parcs spa, it's quite small but has everything you need and we had plenty to do all day. Facilities are: Turkish bath, salt bath (extra hot Turkish bath), ice room, relaxing sauna, hot sauna, warm bubbly outdoor pool, outdoor relaxing area with blankets and indoor relaxing area with beds and pods for napping. Had a lovely treatment and the lunch was also great. Everything spotlessly clean, really smiley and friendly staff. We will definitely be back!

Considering covid and the situation we’re in, I would of expected to see staff members cleaning. In the three hours of being in the spa I didn’t see a single staff member, let alone cleaning. The pool says 8 people at a time but there were times we had 13 in there and no one was checking or adhering to the rules. Most people didn’t wear a mask in the communal areas and definitely not in the changing rooms! Again though, no one was checking. I also was surprised that the hairdryers were allowed as all other gyms etc have taken them away as they disperse air particles further.

This was our second time here but our first having lunch included. I was disappointed by the lunch to be honest, as on the yspa itself and the hotel webpages the mezze lunch was, and still is, advertised as soup, quiche, bruschetta, cheesecake etc. But on being served we were given salami, chorizo (one circle of each), falafel (2 small balls on a cocktail stick), a small bowl of lettuce with mayo, one tiny bruschetta with coronation chicken and one with spicy salsa, then 3 cake ‘bites’ and a bit of yoghurt. I spoke to the waitress who served us and explained this wasn’t what was advertised and she shrugged and said said well this is what you’ve got! I then watched her move glasses with her hands inside the glasses and an open jug of water from a table with two guests on, to a spare table where she laid it out for two new guests! Again given Covid, you’d think that the water would be covered and she wouldn’t put her hands in the glasses let alone move them from occupied tables!

I decided to approach the lady seating people to tables, she took a photo of the menu on their webpage and shortly came to tell us the chef had never seen it before and neither of them knew why that’s on their page! She kindly said they could make me another platter up, so I was then expecting something similar to what had been advertised... I did receive a small bowl of soup, but unfortunately the ‘platter’ was exactly the same as before but with a pile of feta and olives instead of the coronation chicken and falafel 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷‍♀️ At this point I gave up and decided to be hungry for the afternoon instead!

The menus are in my photos, still displayed on their webpage this morning too!

We have not been here for 3 years. Some changes have been implemented, some good, some not so good.

The environmental approach now means no slippers are provided and you receive one towel for your body and one for your hair. Previously, you had an unnecessary unlimited towel supply.

Lunch is no longer a buffet in the restaurant, instead you receive a set meze style lunch in the windowless cafe.

We had a half day booking, this equates to 10-1 with lunch was at 1.30. Timings are set for you. So not really a half day. Just 3 hours in the spa area.

Treatments had to be taken in your booking time slot, meaning you lost even more time away from the Spa. Personally, we wanted a facial after the spa, not an option. Who wants a nice treatment at say 11 and then sit in the sauna/steam room or jacuzzi? If you opt for a manicure/pedicure your Spa experience ends here.

There are now circa 8 waterbeds in the relaxation area, only two blankets were provided, which was not enough, you need one per bed. There are no more cosy duvets to snooze under.

The mains fed water machine in the spa area was not working and looked like it had been out of action for a while. Instead a container of tepid water was provided but ran out as it was far to small for the volume of guests.
No waste bin, so used thick waxed lined hot drink style cups were left around the area.
If you are really serious about your environmental impact, provide plastic reusable cups for water, as you do for other cold drinks.

When we left the spa we headed to the reception area to purchase some products. No testers are now provided, so unless you know what you want, you are buying blind. I like to smell and test any skin product before I buy.

It’s clear the Spa has really cut back to make cost savings, some like the reduction in towels is good, the rest not so good and feels like penny pinching.

Next week we are heading to the spa at Centre Parcs, which is £90 for a full day with lunch, so it will be interesting to see what we get for the extra £40.

YSpa is “fine” the staff are all lovely but the cutbacks were really noticeable if you had been here before they were implemented.

I have visited this spa 10 times now, sometimes with my husband and other times with my sister.
I have tried all different packages available, from stays to Demi spa days (breakfast and lunch)

The first 5 times I was very pleased! The view from the restaurant (which served breakfast and lunch) overlooked the lake which was amazing, the restaurant which served dinner was very good and the food was brilliant.

Then things changed,

Demi spa days started serving lunch at their own cafe area which I can understand and made a lot more sense so it didn’t take any room of the hotel restaurants itself and the excuse was you could wear your robe to lunch… but I’m sure hotel guests could wear their robes to breakfast if they really wanted to?

You used to get 4 hours in the spa use but now you only get 3…

The last time I visited (nov 2022) I felt the spa was overcrowded… so many people was cramped in the jacuzzi and it felt uncomfortable which is not what I went there for.

The cafe had to make room for all our lunches which again felt crowded and the worst part was the Mezze platter lunch that was served… I was really disappointed with the food.. which left me and my husband ill..

It never used to be like this, Y-spa has really gone down hill and I’m really disappointed as I recommended this spa to friends and family…

I hate having to write bad reviews but I’m hoping Y-spa will use this and have a think about how things are and maybe try to improve or just take it back to how it used to be… I’ve never seen it this crowded not even pre covid! So the current changes cannot be because of covid. Also, bring back hot lunches for your Demi spa days PLEASE!

I want to book again but until there are changes I think I’ll have to look elsewhere which is very sad.

I’ve noticed the Demi spa day packages have gone up £10 pp which again I can understand with cost of living going up but thats just not good enough when the standards are poor compared to before.

I hope the owner of the spa sees this review and does something about it and not criticise in return. I continued using the spa when things started changing but I just can’t justify spending that money and not having the great time like I used to. My sister travelled from Leicester just to visit this spa because I recommended it.

Having been to the spa many times before I can honestly say this is my favourite. The staff are always incredibly helpful and go beyond their role to assist. We visited today and the measures in place to protect customers and staff were excellent. My only criticism is that they have replaced the substantial buffet with miniminal "mezze" for lunch and we had to drive to a restaurant on way home as it was more a starter. We gave feedback to restaurant team leader to which she laughed and said "yeah not a lot is it" we are both fully aware you can't operate as before, however I overheard many others saying how small the portion was for two.

My mum and I have been coming to this spa for nearly ten years. We have seen a few changes and the newly upgraded areas are nice. However, the cutbacks were felt. At £85 each for a 10 till 5 day we did feel a bit cheated with no slippers so walking around bare feet for lunch.

The lunch I would say would suit a small minority of people as it was quite an acquired taste so not for everyone and a shame that you just get given it without any choice. There isn't really enough to call a meal when you are there for the whole day. The buffet of before was such a wonderful treat and welcome drink, it seemed to represent the price which in our case is £170 altogether.

Another aspect which is no fault of the staff is the behavior of couples in the pool area. Being a public place it feels really embarrassing when people can't control themselves and get amorous as if there isn't anyone within touching distance of them.

My mum and I felt really uncomfortable around this. We did speak to staff and they were really understanding and did all they can but apparently it is a regular occurrence.

People taking selfies in the pool too feels like it has lost is hideaway sanctuary feel when phones are about taking pictures.

We were very disappointed with our recent day at the Y spa. We have visited before several times and always enjoyed the day, however left yesterday feeling we would not be visiting again. No welcome or welcome drink, no slippers provided and worst of all was lunch, which consisted of a variety of heavy appetizers. Desert was served at the same time, and on the same plate, leaving us feeling that the staff/management really could not be bothered.

On a different note the foot treatment that I had was a delight, the therapist friendly and helpful and the treatment itself lovely. Shame the day as a whole let it down, certainly not worth what we paid for it.

The spa was lovely, the staff in the cafe and spa were really lovely and the whole morning was lovely until we went for lunch. We were expecting a limited menu because of covid, but there was actually no choice whatsoever, just one option. The main and pudding were served on the same plate. We asked three times for our drinks, it seemed to be too much bother for the staff. My drink finally arrived after I'd finished eating. We then waited at the exit to pay for the drinks for quite some time, staff had seen us but didn't come over, so we decided to head to the spa reception to pay for them, then a waitress asked us very rudely to go back into the restaurant to pay. It felt like a completely different experience compared to the first part of the day.

I went there a few years ago , and had a relaxing time . Unfortunately not this time .I had asked for a twin room I got a double. The buffet lunch I was so looking forward to in a lovely room had gone and in its place we ate in a canteen which because of the lake of soft furnishings was incredibly noisy . We had no choice it was a rather tasteless meze . Then on our arrival no one shiowed us where anything was ,and when we did finally find the pool, it was cramped and very over crowded ,and no one was serving at the poolside bar.I was not told when I booked the room that it would not be available until three pm . Had I known that I would have booked some more treatments. I had my nails done in the hall cheek to jowl with another lady no soft music and privacy. The sink in our room did not empty. And there were no toiletries in the bathroom. We went out for dinner and we’re ravines ( lunch not very good) and after lunch I decided to have a packet of crisps only to be told I had to eat them in the canteen I was not allowed to take them out ,,, A pot of tea and cakes Wes also out of bounds My visit finally ended with breakfast the buffet had no vegetarian sauce I asked if I mite have some and was told to start my breakfast and she would bring me some I never did get them .SO for what I paid which was too wack I am to upset to say what I paid, suffice to say I could have had a four day brake in Spain is not an exaggeration , but it was last minute and supposed to be special IT WASENT

My husband booked gift cards for me and a friend as a birthday present. I booked a few weeks ago and and was really nervous about attending the spa today after reading the reviews. I worried unnecessarily.

We were welcomed at check in and were shown around. Very warm welcome and quickly felt at ease.

The steam rooms and sauna were great as were the relaxation chairs. We enjoyed the pool which is so much nicer than the website pictures. It was lovely in the sun today with lots of chairs to relax around the edges and the sofa areas are great,

I had the facial and hot stone massage. My therapist was lovely and I had a lovely experience. She proactively realised my towel was wet and supplied a new one for me followed by a welcome herbal tea.

Lunch was very different to other spas but there was a good selection on the mezze platter and a delicious chocolate dessert.

The staff had rearranged our treatments so that we were able to enjoy the day together rather than being split up for treatments at different times.

The staff were happy, friendly and helpful. I’ve be to several spas, this one is small but really nice and I would recommend it.

Spending a day at Y Spa is superb. The Chillax Day is competitively priced at £76, whereas other spas in the area (Aqua Sana at Center Parcs and Champneys) are a lot more expensive and not as good in my opinion. You can add treatments on if you want to, but if you just want a basic spa day, it’s perfect.

Everything at Y Spa is lovely and clean and extremely well organised. With the Chillax day, a mezze platter lunch is included, and if you’re a vegetarian, you can ask for the chicken skewer to be substituted for halloumi.

The main attraction at Y Spa is the outside thermal pool, and come rain or shine, it’s heavenly. It’s like a giant jacuzzi with jets of water and the water temperature is lovely and hot. There are also four different steam / sauna rooms and a quiet room with beds if you just want to read or sleep.

Overall, a lovely relaxing day, so why would you go anywhere else?
