Dear Steve B I am not sure what PORT refers to - below is my review for Trip advisor based on my stay at The Creta Paradise Hotel in Chania - there are about 6 different Road Train trips to choose from and we chose the more popular trip - I have seen other reviews for the other trips and based on other persons reviews we chose this one at a cost of euro 19 p.p. MUSON RIVER 1894 FUN TRAIN PLATINUS CRETE The Fun Train operates from Platinus Chania Crete, picking up and dropping off passengers from designated kiosk offices where you can buy the tickets, my wife and I chose the 7 valleys trip through the mountain scenery at a cost of euro 19 each, the front seat was empty in the first carriage behind the engine, I could smell the diesel fumes whilst it was empty so we moved to the front seat of the second carriage further back, that seat we first chose remained empty for the whole return trip. Thinking about young children, the road train travels along the roads at a slower steady pace, there is a safety catch on the outside of each door that has to be fastened before departure. We boarded the road train at 10:50 a.m. at the Kiosk outside the TUI Family Life Caldera Hotel which is next to the Creta Paradise Hotel both are owned by Atlantica Group and are 50 meters apart on the same road. Our destination was Theriso Village about 26km from our Creta Paradise Hotel and it takes 2 hours each way, our first stop was a family owned Olive processing company producing the oils and soaps and facial body and hand creams at very reasonable prices, I was glad that they had a WC too, we are getting on in life. Half an hour stop and on our way again, back to same seats, snaking our way along narrow tarred roads through several valleys and small villages, looking South to the White Mountains until we came to Theriso village with couple of shops and about 3 restaurants, we only wanted tea & coffee and chose a small café with outside seats opposite a tree full of green Walnuts, we had about 45 minute stop enough time to relax over tea or others buying ice creams across the road. – the Journey back was similar views but in all a chance to see other places inland. It was worth the 19 euro each on this trip. We don’t buy meals out when we are on all-inclusive holidays especially has our hotel food was really good with lots of choice, we were back in our hotel at 15:30, TUI do not book these excursions through their hotels, but they are allowed to pick and drop passengers at their hotels.
