About
This little island has something magic hidden not only in the giant statues that surround it, but also in its sunsets, starry nights and in the moonlight over the sea in a quiet night. We specialize in beginner level horseback riding with two options, to plant a tree or to watch the sunset from the highest point of Rapa Nui, the Terevaka. Tumu Ora. We ride up during the morning to the top of Terevaka to see the island and the ocean in 360 °. But enjoying the view is not the only thing. If you want to leave a positive mark on Rapa Nui this is your route. Plant a tree in Terevaka and follow its growth with us. Sunset Terevaka. We ride up to see the sunset from the highest point of the island. It takes us about 50min to reach the top where we expect the sunset. Then we comeback down with the first stars.

Everyone goes to see the Moais on the island, but this horseback ride was truly the highlight of the trip. The owner and his wife are so personable and gracious. While the sunset was beautiful, the unexpected highlight was the ride down Terevaka through the forest with the incredible stars overhead. SO MANY STARS! It was like glitter in the air. What I really like is that there were only three people in our group. The horses are well cared for and in good shape. I like this tour so much, I contemplated taking it a second time and I recommended the tour to others during my stay. Two Thumbs Up!

Booked the sunset horseback riding tour. Tonchi came to pick me up around the agreed time and we went to the stables which was about 20 mins drive from town.

Tonchi helped me get on the horse and off we went. I had rode horses before during holidays but previous experience is not required, as long as you can stay calm and relaxed, it's all good. We rode to the highest hill Maunga Terevaka. Got off there and had some to chill out there. It was dark when we started heading back, it was my first time horseriding at night, it was full moon that day though and I could see everything quite clearly. Tonchi was friendly and reassuring.

2 small suggestions though, first I was the only one who booked the tour that day and was grateful that they didn't cancel it. Tonchi brought her mother along, I really don't mind this and thought it was sweet for him to take his mom for a ride, but it got a little awkward as it felt a bit like I was intruding on their outing. The other thing was we started a bit late, I was there when his van came and we also started right away after arriving the stables, but the sun had set by the time we reached the peak, wish we have started a little earlier so that we could catch the sunset properly.

The horses are gentle and well taken care of. It was very tranquil riding through the forest and enjoyed the experience.

This was such a cool experience, I think I enjoyed this ride as much as I enjoyed seeing and learning about all the Moai on the island. Tonchi and Alice were expert hosts and were very welcoming in letting me know all about my horse and what to expect of the ride both up to the top and back through the forest. The sunset was spectacular and the horses were obviously loved and well cared for. Their three dogs even came with us on the ride, which was great. The ride back through the forest at night, in near pitch black conditions, however was spectacular. Being able to see the night sky through the tops of the trees, all the stars (including the southern cross constellation, a satellite and a shooting star!) was incredible and probably the best part of the ride. Highly recommend this experience!

Great ride through the forest. Guide and tour owner Tonchi was very knowledgeable and personable. We did not feel rushed and he allowed us to enjoy the sunset. We were picked up from our hotel and then was dropped off as well. Horses were in great shape- looks healthy and well kept. Thank be of the highlights of our trip.

Owner (Tonte) picked us up at hotel right on time and took us to his property. He spoke English very well and was great conversation the entire journey. Horses were very well behaved, and the trail was not frightening at all. The ride was about 1/3 thru the forest then we were in the open spaces, so you got to see both kinds of scenery. You get in the clouds on the very top of the mountain, but they pass thru and you have a view in any direction at any given time. Not a horse person by nature but this was a fantastic experience, I highly recommend.

Booked the sunset trip for our last night on the Island . Picked up by Tonchi and Alice from our hotel with 15 - 20 minute ride to stables in a fabulous woodland clearing.

Lovely healthy looking horses and new saddles

Our guide was Maca who was lovely . Very attentive to my wife who was a little nervous . Nice chat but she did not talk incessantly like some annoying guides . Instead , she let the forest and views speak for themselves.

The view from the top was beautiful as was the sunset . My wife remarked later she wanted to cry it was so magical .

Fabulous horses , amazing guide and spectacular views

Would I go back? Absolutely

Iorana Mark! Thanks for your words. We were happy that the weather got really nice for the ride, some stars show up after the sunset. Hope the best for your diving sessions around the world. Say hello to Mary! Maururu.

Decided to do this tour last minute. It was a good decision. I never rode a horse before but they made sure I was comfortable and safe. They are very professional. Clicked our pictures as well while our hands were busy riding the horse. The saddles were brand new and comfy. As I'm an ardent animal lover and against exploiting animals for pleasure, for me it was a relief to see that all the horses were healthy and were treated with such love and care.

The ride to Mt. Terevaka was very enjoyable. Tremendous views on the way up as well as at the top and the ride itself was quite comfortable. I recommend this if you're going to the island.

We booked the North Coast tour with Tonchi and loved every minute of it! Tonchi is super friendly, patient and passionate about his island and culture. We learned so much thanks to him. The sceneries were absolutely stunning and it felt like we were all alone in the world. Would definitely recommend this tour.

This was the best thing I've done in travel all over South America. Rapa Nui is beautiful. Guides are smart, know what they're doing, and know their history. I'll be back :-)
