A truly enjoyable and delicious trip. It’s a charming family run business with a small museum displaying interesting materials used for chocolate making as well as a brief history of the family business. It is well worth a visit if even just for the boutique where you can enjoy all kinds of made in-house chocolates, macarons and ice cream alongside a cup of coffee or tea. Merci familie Defroidmont!

Place was packed because it was a special happening during the weekend so it was a bit difficult to get in/out of the building. I don't know if it is this crowded normally. Anyway, a nice place to stop in the middle of nowhere really. Nice chocolate that you can buy and take home. You could also get something to drink and something sweet to eat at the premises. Small museum with some interesting info about cocoa and the making of chocolate and macarons. The museum was free of charge this weekend, but I think you have to pay to enter normally.

Defroidmont chocolaterie was highly recommended by a tourist office in the area, so I expected a lot. The chocolaterie itself is cosy and smells divine! The museum tour, though was not worth the 5 euros per person. Although professionally done, it is basically an advertisement for the company - using video footage. It includes only 2x chocolates - one of which is the chocolate disk that is used in the making of the final product. Better to spend the 5 euro on the real thing in the shop, which is well stocked.

I went on study abroad to Belgium and the of the many places my group went, Chocolaterie Defriodmont was definitely one of our favorites. The shop is lovely and the people are so gracious. The lady there spoke very good English and helped me when I asked her how I should transport my chocolate back to the US. I still wasn't going to leave for a couple weeks and was concerned about the chocolate making it but she told me to get an insulation bag and put all my chocolate in it and it should be fine. She was right! My chocolate arrived safe and intact by the time I got home and it's still fine six weeks after I talked to her.

We truly enjoyed our visit to this charming little chocolate shop! The lady who works at the front of the shop spoke wonderful English and was SO helpful - she treated us like we were the most special visitors that had come into the store in a month :) There is a very nice tour of the history of the chocolatier in English and being able to view the workers making chocolate is a treat! While you are there, take a few extra minutes and enjoy a cup of the delicious hot chocolate - it's wonderful! We went back a 2nd time to get more chocolate to take back to the states.

Chocolaterie Defroidmont is in an idylic location and well worth a visit. The museum, telling the story of the chocloate-maker's family, the history of chocolate and a view of the art of chocolate making was most interesting with en excellent (English) commentary and all quite hi-tech. The chocolate was of course divine. There was also coffee/tea/hot chocolate etc. with declicious looking cakes and gateaux on offer.

The tour isn't really that long, but done in two languages so double the time. My kids were just bored until we got to the part where they showed how to make the chocolates. You get to taste some at the end, yum. There are plenty of chocolates to buy, on the expensive side, but still delicious. The area is fabulous and I would go again just for the drive. A good stop on your trip if you are a chocolate fanatic like me, or if you just like to know how they make it.
