We were everso impressed with the bunker tour. The couple who showed us the bunkers were knowledgeable, friendly and clearly passionate about the restoration of the bunkers. Both spoke English extremely well and gave us so much information about the Battle of the Scheldt. This is a 'must- see' attraction for any WW2 enthusiasts and very reasonably priced at just 8 euros for an adult.

The hospital bunker is the only one in The Netherlands. The amunition bunker and the bunker for troops (20 people) give a real feel for what it must have been at this coastal battery in 1944. All three are in good shape with some original writing on the walls. Further plans for restauration of especially the hospital bunker are on the way. John and Suzan are great hosts and they have many real life stories from eye witnesses of the battle of the Schelde.

Naturally preserved, this gives a real authentic representation of the past. The fight for this place was harder than Normandy yet history seems to all have forgotten it. This is/was a good thing as the sites are actually quite well preserved. Learn about 3 sides of the story around this amazing place from the current tenant who has made it his life's work to make it presentable.

In the centre of Dishoek is a path over the dune. But 50 meters to the West is a bunker complex with canons and other attributes that remind of the second world war. The guide tells a vivid story about the battle of the Westerschelde. After visiting the hospital bunker his wife take you to other bunkers. Quit a climb but very worthwhile .
