This place is really great - i mean i woke up early to beat the lines for the bumper cars and the ferris wheel, but even in the middle of the day there were no lines.

The technology is outdated though, it looks like it hasnt been updated in about 30 years? And it is rusty, i cut myself a lot and was bleeding. There is no first aid available.

No one collects tickets to ride the rides either, its kind of weird.

I spent 3 days there, afterwards my mouth really tasted like lead? Also, there are zombies wandering around at night - I think this is the amusement park staff just playing jokes on me - pretty funny guys!

But I really hate waiting in line at amusement parks, so Id probably go back once this lead taste goes away

In serious need of repair. Bummer cars needs pushing manually and often you will have to grab a steering wheel from another bumper car or the floor. Big wheel was fully out of action on the day. This place has a working ride rate the same as Alton Towers, so not bad.

The Pripyat ferris wheel is one of the iconic images of Chernobyl. The ferris wheel, the bumper cars and the other amusement rides combine to make the park a highlight of any day-trip to Chernobyl.

The amusement park was never actually open to the public. It was scheduled to open on May Day (1st May), a few days after the town was evacuated due to the nuclear disaster. The rides have remained, unused, since that time.

The amusement park can only be visited as part of an organised tour, and three-to-five days notice is required by the tour groups to get the required paperwork from the authorities. I'd encourage anyone who is visiting Kiev to make plans for a visit to Chernobyl.

Visited here in April 2015 for the 3rd time in 2 years and now is the time to visit before it's too late. The whole place is decaying rapidly and it won't be long before its closed due to the dangers of collapsing buildings. The amusment park ferris wheel is one of the most iconic places in Pripyat and to see this alone is worth the visit. This area is one of the most radioactive parts of the town but it's amazing to see how nature has taken over since the accident in 1986.

The Pripyat amusement park is what you always see in all the pictures of Pripyat.. seeing it for real was very interesting.. but I must also admit that other parts of the city (like the hospital or school) had more to offer for me. Either way.. certainly worth a visit.

This was such a cool tour of a desolate city. So much information available if you hire a good tour guide.

Was an amazing experience to go and visit this place considering it never got used. The dodgem cars and Ferris wheel just give you the weirdest feeling when you go there, in fact the Ferris wheel still shows high levels of radiation near the bottom cage/seat if you put your meter near it.

Think that the prospering city was to have a brand new Amusement Park on May Day, 1 May 1986, but it was never opened as 26th April 1986 brought a "Mayday". Then, a quick evacuation "for a short time". I guess parents have told the kids that "we'll be back soon, and then we visit the Amusement Park." It must have been a very different visit, a bit like we did with radio activity sensors.

By reading facts or experiencing a TV series one can’t get the overall sense of what it is like in Pripyat: how widely the radio activity varies from cleaned places to hotspots, how nature and rottening houses smell, how the details give rise to your imagination.
