Blaze of Colour
Apr 2019 • Friends
Friends are visiting us from Surin, so today we took them to the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Herb Garden, which is currently hosting a massive flower show.

In huge air conditioned tents to keep the blooms in peak condition for as long as possible, the show features 120,000 tulips alone, not to mention daffodils, liliums, begonias, hyacinths and many other mainly European flowers.

Outside there are numerous food stalls set up, and there is also a garden and flower market selling a wide range of palms, germs, orchids and other exotic flowers.

Being a Sunday, the place was crowded, but it was worth the drive.

Quiet and lovely Herbal Garden
Jan 2019 • Friends
The Pricess Maha Chakri Sirindhon has nothing to do with the princess, just honored to her. The herbal garden is a beautiful place for know more about herbal. Relaxing walking. We made a tour too with a guided car but it was too fast (driver drove to fast) and you couldn't follow the information of the guide. So walked the same way.
The staff were very kind and helpful even they didn't speak much english.
Great place.

Europe Blooms in Rayong
Aug 2018 • Friends
It was a return visit to the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Herb Garden today, but for a special exhibition of mainly European cold climate flowers.

The exhibition, called "Blooming Happiness" featured tens of thousands of tulips, dahlias, foxgloves, and other cold climate flowers displayed in a huge air conditioned marquee.

Even when there is not a special show, the gardens are worth a visit and it is very peaceful, when there isn't such a large crowd, to stroll along the pathways of the gardens underneath trees, around fountains and water features, and through herbal and floral gardens.

Admission is normally free, but today it was THB 20, although as a "senior citizen" I got in free.

Peaceful park for a relaxing walk around in Rayong. A good place to learn about local herbs too. Lovely indeed.

Delightful Herbal Garden
May 2016 • Friends
This garden was established in 1984 by PTT Public Company Limited on 60 rai of the company's maintenance center, about 23 km from Rayong City, with the aim of conserving and developing knowledge of herbs.

The garden was dedicated to the King's daughter, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn a year later.

The garden now has more than 260 medicinal herbs, which can be divided into 20 groups, depending on their medicinal properties. There are herbs for diarrhea and peptic ulcers, anti-inflammatory herbs, diuretics, laxatives, energizers, aromatics, blood tonics, and anti-hemorrhoid and anti-cancer herbs.

The gardens are open to the public from 9 am to 4.30 pm daily, except for Mondays.

When you go, drop in first to the main building and pick up one of the excellent English language brochures, which has a map that will guide you through the various garden areas and let you know what you are looking at.

Apart from the herbs, the garden is delightfully landscaped with palm trees, other trees, fountains, hedges and walkways.

There is a shop that sells herbal products, including herbal tonics and medicinal treatments, herbal soaps, shampoos and scrubs, and aromatics. There is also a food court and a coffee shop, and a health massage center.

You can walk around the gardens at your leisure or on NGV cars, but the commentary on these is in Thai language only.
