After visiting Bolton Abbey we went on the steam railway from the Bolton Abbey station about a 30 minute walk or 10 minute drive from the Abbey. Great little station and buffet for a tea and cake before the 20 minute train ride to Embsay. Guards and driver all very helpful and lovely scenery to look at for a relaxing... More

My wife bought me the winter warmer trip as a present . This means we It bread , soup and coffee in the dining car . It was their first such event and well supported . The volunteers are great and the chap in charge of the buffet clearly works very hard to please the customers . Plenty to browse... More

Went on the train from Embsay to Bolton Abbey for lunch, a walk up to the Abbey and grounds. Very pleasant return ride and day out, enjoyed a coffee and complementary mince pie at the Bolton Abbey Station Refreshment Room. The train was clean and heated, the staff are very friendly indeed. A most enjoyable part of a day out.

Out Experience: We took our three year old son and he loved the train. The volunteers and the amount of Santa entertainment was excellently choreographed with a hilarious and engaging Father Christmas character. Our gift was damaged and when asked about our satisfaction, the gift was replaced without questioning - indicating good service. Recommendations: - Dispense with the blow-up Snowman... More

We took our three Grandchildren aged 11yrs 9yrs and 5yrs old to ride on the steam Santa specials trains, The station at Bolton Abbey was beautifully decorated for Christmas and we was welcomed into the station by staff and the waiting room was lovely and warm with a coal fire. All the staff were welcoming and we was allocated our seats... My wife and I took our two year old on the Santa Special here recently. The whole day was well organised and great fun. My son loves trains - he has been on this line twice before already - and is usually wart of Santa, but this time he was overjoyed at the event. The customer service is first class... More

I wanted to book tickets to take a friend's daughter on the Santa Steam special. There was a glitch with the phone, but they made a special effort to contact me after I left a message and they went out of their way to help. On the day, it was very well organised so everything went smoothly and easily and... More

We took our 2 granddaughters, aged 2 and 6 on the Santa Special this afternoon and had a lovely time. A very friendly Santa who posed with my granddaughters before the ride for a photo, and when he came through the carriage had a little chat and made a few jokes. The rest of the staff were all very friendly... More

Recently(Sunday 27th November) we took our two granddaughters on the Santa Special. ALL the staff at the station were friendly and helpful and had created a warm welcoming atmosphere. The café was warm -- real log fire and decorated for Christmas. The snacks were fresh and a generous size but rather pricey. However the train ride was a little disappointing.... More

Took a couple of toddlers on a train ride. What a brilliant experience for them? For me it reminded me of my trips down the Devon in the 50s. The rolling stock was a great reminder for me & that steamy, noisy travel. The platforms facilities are well run & the staff are friendly & very helpful. Lovely clean loos... More
