Twycross Zoo is renowned as a specialist primate zoo and has a wide variety of monkeys and apes including the UK's only group of bonobos. We have breeding groups of many endangered primate species so we often have babies and toddlers playing around in our orang utan and bonobo groups, and in many of our monkey groups. Set in more than 80-acres, we have around 900 animals of more than 160 species to see, including many native species in the Zoo's Nature Reserve. You can walk with our ring-tailed lemurs in their new walk-through enclosure; see our giant tortoises sunbathing in their new grass area and watch our penguins take their daily walk. Our keepers present regular talks and feeds where you can learn a bit more about some of our animals such as the chimpanzees, penguins and meerkats. Twycross Zoo's award winning Education Department offers a variety of discovery opportunities for many different types of groups and parties. The Zoo holds the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, all sessions are curriculum linked and all are designed to best engage all age groups.

Having last visited Twycross zoo about 6 years ago, I went again last week with my 14 year old son and 5 year old neice. Since my last visit, the zoo has really changed. The animal enclosures are very impressive, large and interesting for the animals while allowing visitors a good chance to see them. There are activities for the... More

Lovely zoo. Well set out and lots of happy animals with lots of space. Wide range of species especially quite unusual monkeys and apes. Nice keeper talks throughout the day including making people aware of environmental issues. Not sure why some animals have to be shut away so long before the day ends. Goats walk through was clear an hour... More

We arrived at 3pm thinking we would have loads of time to see everything as the website said it doesn't close until 6 but we're really disappointed that we missed half the big animals as they seemed to have already been put away for the night at 4.30pm. When you pay such a large amount of money you at least... More

Twycross has always been my family's favourite zoo. Having not visited for a few years, I noticed that some of the enclosures were looking a little tired, although most of these didn't appear to have animals in them. The regeneration that has happened is brilliant and more is going on. Just needs some more work and it will be wonderful... More

It's been about 6 years or so since we last visited Twycross zoo, and in that time I'd say there have been improvements in the attractions it possesses. However our visit didn't start too well and I'm glad I checked ticket pricing on their website before we arrived. There is a 2 tier pricing: standard and an inflated gift aid... More

Having recently visited here during the Easter half term, it was a little overpriced in terms of the entry fee and had the minimal amount of eateries. We ate at the fish bar but the standard of food was lovely I must admit. I feel that the zoo could have a better layout to ensure you see all the animals... More
