It is very interesting to see an 11th century tower next to a 13th century tower. Much more of the site is closed off than I would prefer. You don't get to wander in the ruins much, but the place is free. You do get to climb to the top of the 11th century tower on a metal staircase. Mostly... More

Bit of a hilly climb but if you like historical ruins it's worth it, this is full of history. It would help if you did a bit of research before.

Ideal location, on top of a steep hill to help walk off some of the over indulgence at Moulin de la Gorce !

This hugh fortification was undergoing further restoration. Linked to Richard I and many French noble families. A lot of stonework to see. It was well worth an hours diversion for the those interested in medieval history and castles. Much better than Chalus, where Coeur de Lyons was shot!
