This is an absolute gem. When we arrived we got a one tour. Since we had young children, they absolutely loved it. We got to see some exotic animals and they got to play on the historical musical instruments. We also got to go and see a whole lot of horses. But the most remarkable thing was the most fantastic restaurant. The design and ambiance looking out to the water was one of the highlights of our trip on this island. The gardens were one of the most impressive we have ever seen.

From Alona Beach in Panglao, we took a tricycle (150php) for a 15 minute ride going to Tarsier Botanika.

The entrance fee for non-Boholanos is 500php, then it is 300php for the locals. We got a discount for my mother since she was born in Bohol. The fee includes a 2 hour guided tour over the featured sites of their 7 hectare farmland.

You'll be welcomed with line of flowers, orchids and bonsai collection.

Next, in the animal area - they have monkeys, a lot of species of birds and some reptiles. They also have a horse training area, but the rider should provide himself full gear before they can rent a horse.

The area have reclining Buddha surrounded by a small pond, water lily and hyacinth – feels like I’m in Bali or Thailand. But where am I? BOHOL, PHILIPPINES!

For the Catholics, having a Grotto will be fully apreciated. It is so unique since the dome is all made of shells.

They also have conservatory with paintings, plants and café in one.

Another thing I’m proud of this place is the very well maintained art gallery – that is divided to Asian, European and Modern or Futuristic themes.

They are still constructing the ocean view restaurant upon this writing (Dec 2011). But food at that their small cafe is very delicious - we ordered spaghetti bolognese and margarita pizza.

The reception room also offers products that are locally made with export quality.

There is no other way out, so better request your tricycle driver to pick-up us to go back to your hotel.

The gardens are well worth seeing. We paid to go in and it was money well spent.
The restaurant is excellent, little highly priced, but the food and the location , view, is well worth it. It was windy when we ate in the restaurant, but still decided to sit outside for the view. The waiting staff were excellent. Would love to try there in the evening next time.

Just a pity about the animals in those cages. Cages too small and apes/big birds kept in solitary. Very bad really. Tarsier Botanika does not really need to keep a mini zoo such as this, to attract tourists. I am sure that most Europeans would find the zoo distasteful.
Please get rid of it and see to it that all the animals go to zoo's that can better acomodate/care for them.

This used to be one of the best Restaurants in the Filipines when French chef/owner was running the kitchen. Still spectacular location but food is nonsense since changing hands to local conglomerate. Turned out “catch of the day” was actually catch from 2 days ago ! Eat somewhere else on Panglao.

A waitress at my hotel suggested this and I had only expected to see gardens and plants. I had my own personal tour guide (Lassita-hopefully spelled correctly) and was more amazed with each site. After seeing the largest collection of cactus I have personally seen and many exotic flowers and orchids the tour continued to be more full of surprises. They have a small collection of well kept wild animals and one of the best exotic bird aviaries I have ever seen. Lassita called a female parrot over who like her tongue petted; a Rufuos Hornbill named Delores was called from her tree and showed how she liked to be petted; and many other talking birds including parrots who only spoke German. The tour includes three small art galleries from art all over the world including Chinese figures from the Tang Dynasty and oil paintings from the Renaissance period. A short break at the beachside restaurant for excellent coffee and a trip to the horse barns completed this fully enriched two hour life remembering experience. The tour was excellent and made all the better by my wonderful tour guide Lassita who was assisted in the aviary by a golden pheasant who Lassita might name after me. Everything is tastefully done and the staff are very friendly and pleasant. More than worth it for the 200 php admission and highly recommended.

The botanical garden looks really good with a very quite relaxing ambiance..I luv the whole concept of this place.. a garden with exotic plants and spices, horse riding facility, fine dining restaurant plus they have a stunning view of the ocean where one can scuba dive. Otherwise have a sumptuous meal in their fine dining restaurant..One of a kind in Bohol!
