A magical place. Full of wonder, very white beaches and full of life (natural). Don't touch the starfish, those poor creatures are likely to die... Unfortunately I saw many tourists who in ignorance took them to make stupid selfie, then throw them as balls in...More

Alona beach is nice and offers a great selection of bars & restaurants. Walking the beach you will see fire dancers, get a massage on the beach, enjoy fine dining on the beach or grab a cold beer

The beach itself is okay, there’s boats lining the coast and you can’t go snorkelling, but you can cool off in the water, although theres nothing to see. But its a nice place to walk around and to have some food and beers at night....More

We were very much looking forward to a few days on Alona Beach after hearing about how it’s like Boracay before it got too big. Sadly disappointed and had no desire to go back after a visit the first day. It’s packed with tacky tourist...More

This is the fine example of what mass tourism can do to a place and just destroy it. Another Khao San road of this world. Rip!

Fairly busy and not that special to be honest. But ok for a visit or so. The east end seemed to be nicer.

My Filipina girlfriend and I arrived by ferry from Cebu City in Panglao in the around mid afternoon. It was magical that we had encountered a Filipina friend of hers who was married to an American (they had already started a family), totally at random...More

Alona Beach has definitely become more popular with foreign travellers during the past decade, particularly mainland Chinese. The best section is near the cliffs at the northern end. This is relatively uncrowded. I saw a fruit vendor overcharging South Korean tourists. This didn't impress me....More

Alona beach has lost its charm during last five years, over crowded and filled with Chinese and Korean tourists and has lost its previous charm completely. while the beach is some what retained its beauty, sun set lost its beauty since many boats blocked the...More

~20 Day Philippines Honeymoon (3 Replies)
Hi All, I'm planning my honeymoon to the Philippines from August 10th until August 30th. I have a plan I wanted to know if it's a good one and what can I plan better. so: Landing in Manila and staying in the an airport hotel for one night. Manila --> Cebu --> Panglao - stay there around Alona beach for 2-3 nights. Panglao --> Siquijor - stay there for 2-3 nights. Siquijor --> Cebu --> Palawan --> El-Nido - stay there for 5 nights El-Nido --> Port...More

if your thinking relaxed holiday then i would drop some of those destinations and spend more time in just 3 of them. Maybe just make it boracay, panglao and elnido/port barton. Travelling anywhere in the philippines isnt easy and the destinations u have mentioned all require travel by plane and then ferry, you will lose at least 3 days in travel trying to get to all those destinations, hardly relaxing. Nice nightlife and luxury resorts is definetly boracay and to a lesser extent pangloa....More

Some hotels like Paragayo and Blue Elephant do have free internet access (Wi-Fi) at the lobby. I have stayed in Paragayo and the connection is quite reliable.

Recommendation? I have suggested the cheapest beachfront places at each beach.. The cheaper ones are seldom the good ones.. Perhaps do a filter of the...More
