Allessio is very, very knowledgeable. The whole trip from feeling very safe in his car (I don’t usually enjoy being driven) to enjoying hearing all about the temples was brilliant. He is very easy to chat to and happy to share his theories and all about life as a proud Sicilian. Thoroughly recommended.

We were a larger group, so Alessio had a second guide join us. Between Alessio and Natalie, we had the best tour in Sicily of our vacation. They Natalie went above and beyond to make this an amazing tour for our group. Their English was excellent, they were fun and funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and they were above all else flexible. I would take this and any other tour that either one of them offered again. I cannot say enough good things about Alessio and Natalie.

I took The Godfather tour with Alessio on September 9. Right off the bat, I knew I was in good hands. Alessio is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the films and he and I discussed our mutual love for them on our way to Savoca for Bar Vitelli and the Chiesa di San Nicolò where Michael and Appolonia are married. It as only the beginning of a day that got progressively better. From there, we went to Forza D'Agro where we visited Cattedrale Maria S. Annunziata e Assunta (the church featured in all 3 movies) as well as the house that stood in for the Andolini home. It was here that we had lunch that featured the best arincini and cannoli we had on the whole trip to Sicily. Then it was time for the pièce de résistance, Castello degli Schiavi, which was featured as Don Tommasino's residence in all 3 movies. If you don't know, the Castello is a private home owned by a Baron who only gives access to certain tours, and Alessio is one of them. When we arrived, I felt completely transported to the movies. The previous filming locations were all wonderful, but it is here where you truly feel like you're actually IN the movie. Baron Platania, the owner, is a very welcoming and friendly person who shows you around the property and allows you to reenact various scenes from the movie. He even takes the pictures! The highlight was reenacting Michael Corleone's death scene when he falls out of a chair. I still smile thinking about it. Oh and Alessio's tours are 8 people max so you won't be herded onto a double decker bus for this tour. It's just you, Alessio and maybe a few others. Thankfully it was just Alessio, my wife and I so we had the castello all to ourselves! If you're even a moderate fan of the movie, or film history in general, you MUST take this tour and you MUST take it with Alessio! Not only is he an excellent tour guide but he is now someone I consider a friend. It was honestly one of the best days of my life.

We are a small group of experimented European travelers for over 20 years, that reside in Miami.
We are the independent type of travelers that prefer to do everything on our own. We have never driven in Europe and definitely not in Italy. We have always had great experiences using the train or buses to do our day trips and to transfer from city to city. Since 2006 after a well planned trip to Sicily, we decided to cancel it and for 10 years we have been doing the same for the same reasons: how we discover the treasure island and move around to discover all it's marvelous secrets, without driving in a very "crazy traffic" region, where trains and buses are not exactly as reliable as in the rest of Italy?
Well, the answer came this year: ALESSIO!
Alessio has been nothing more and nothing less that a dream come true.
With his professional services, his great manners, his respect to our individuality and our demands, Ale became our travel partner for 2 solid weeks in Sicily.
He not only picked up us at Catania airport to transfer us to our AIRBNB apartment, transferred us a week after to our AIRBNB apartment in Palermo, and did the last transfer to Palermo airport for our return to Miami, but he took us to discover the east and the west of the precious island.
During our negotiation and planning before departure from Miami, Alessio was fast responsive, cooperative and full of ideas and suggestions, after few emails back and forth our itinerary was tailored to perfection.
Alessio is a multilingual person with a high education and a deep knowledge of his beloved Sicilia!
Perfect dominium of the English and Spanish language, made our communication a pleasure. His knowledge about Sicily history and culture made him the perfect addition to our small group.
His driving manners: PERFECT!!!! A very courteous, and conscious driver that made us feel safe all the time. He never had a drink while working and his punctuality in all our pick ups was perfect.
During the two weeks and after a well planned itinerary he was always open to suggestions and changes or switchings so our experience was always flexible. The price was very competitive.
We are eternally tankful to Ale because without him we will never be able to accomplish so much and so well in this our first trip to Sicily. We definitely recommend him. Try him! You will write another long review as ours.

This was the most awesome tour. Alessio Is the most knowledgeable and entertaining guide. He kept us entertained with the movie history and vignettes on the creative process, above and beyond expectations . It felt like a much shorter tour as it engaged us all along the way. We decided as a group to stop at the villa that features strongly in the Godfather trilogy where Apollonia dies. Very worthwhile but is an extra to the tour. Do it if you have the opportunity! Short walking distances and a stop for coffee/lunch not included. Perfect day out. I was picked up by Alessio in Catania and dropped back there. Do this tour!!

Absolutely amazing tour for all Godfather fans out there! Alessio was an incredible tour guide full of knowledge on all things, including the Godfather of course, but not just the movies, the books and production too. Learnt so much from him! The sights were so far away and amazing to see, lots of time available for food/drinks and photos! Had the best cannoli of my life too for free which was a lovely treat. Would definitely recommend visiting Castello degli schiavi if available. It ended up being the highlight of the trip being shown around by the Baron himself, extra charge is worth it. Great tour!

Alessio Patane was our guide today and did a wonderful job! He is punctual, pleasant, knowledgeable and moved at our pace. He had been our guide for the Godfather tour and we enjoyed him so much that day, we booked him for this. He obviously enjoys his job! We saw a former lava (?) mine, houses victim to the destruction, and then he and my husband had a walk around the rim of one of the lesser craters. He was very helpful and watchful for my husband's safety (we are in our 70's and it was a windy day). We saw a lava tube, currently not open, that is usually included on his tours. The afternoon time was spend in Taormina with lunch and time to explore the "town" on our own before driving back to Catania. Alessio pointed out different things for us and offered to take pics of us along the way. He was unavailable for transfer back to the airport at departure but found a cohort of his that was above and beyond also. We really enjoyed Alessio and would definitely recommend him and this tour and would like to connect with him again if we ever go back. He's a 5 Star person and guide!
