Nice setting and to be included while you visit Randazzo. Actually, since park is an issue in this medieval town, a good idea is to leave/park your car in streets' square surrounding this church and then you can start your walk tour through randazzo from there. Also, in front of this church you have a really nice (wirth a try) gelateria: MUSUMECI... Nobody would imagine that the owner has won two time the 1 prize for world best ice-cream! So, three good reasons to visit this church. In any case, for architecture lovers, this church is also a little gem: with its façade completely built of black lava stone, is a good and beautiful example of Catalan-Gothic style. It was begun in the 13C and has been altered many times since. Of the original structure, only the powerful Norman apses embellished by sober small blind arcades remain. The neo-Gothic façade and campanile date from the 19C.

As with many of the buildings in Randazzo, the church has been built using black bricks, which is unusual. The cathedral is impressive and imposing from the outside. We went inside and is worth a look around, particularly at the font near the main entrance (we missed it the first time around!)

We were changing trains in the town and were just passing by. We had no opportunity to enter the church to see its frescos. The clock tower was having a good ding dong signal.

Situated in the Latin quarters of Randazzo, the Basilica di Santa Maria is constructed of lava stone in Norman-Swabian architecture. The Church is adorned with a beautiful set of melodic bells. Well worth a visit. At the side of the Church there is a belvedere.

This beautiful church in the nice town of Randazzo is well worth the visit (amongst the other churches there) As with a lot of the southern churches very pretty, lots of intricate details and not over the top grand size). We wandered through the churches in Randazzo and enjoyed them all as part of an easy walk.

Given the wealth of wonderful Baroque cathedrals boasted by Sicily, this is a somewhat downbeat experience. Commenced in the short Swabian period, the cathedral is built of black tufa, and is rather depressing. Didn’t visit the interior, because it was locked. On a Sunday.

One to give a miss, as, indeed, is the entire town of Randazzo.

It's a beautifully built church which has a single belfry in its front. Once entered the church is really a peaceful setting... Quiet and well lit. It hosts the beautiful painting of Our Lady in Assumption and also a beautiful decorated altar. Must see when in Randazzo
