I do not know if it can be visited inside, we got there late and we strolled in the piazza. It's impressive! Even better than as seen in Montalbano.

The semi- circular approach in front of the amazing and somewhat intimating church it superb. The church dominates one side completely.

Once again another great place to visit the church is wonderful from the exterior to the lovely interior, the curved units/shops just out side was another place used in inspector Montalbano (The Paper Moon) and it was a Jewellers shop, if your in the area it’s worth a visit.

What’s going wrong. It is Tuesday 03 pm. All churches were closed. Everywhere else no problem like Modica et al.
Very bad experience the church is closed. The Third time in italy that happened to us. Some years ago the same happened on Malta in many churches. But for Sicily it’s a really a pitty

Place is an interesting architectural highlight. It is smaller than what I thought after I had seen it through photos. I was there in the early afternoon and the place was totally deserted. Could be more geared for tourism.

It was the baroque architecture that brought us to this part of Sicily. The church and loggia certainly did not disappoint. The loggia looks brilliant from a distance, however I was slightly disappointed when I looked at it close to. The windows have been filled with copies of the paintings within the church, however they were starting to look as if they had been there sometime and were being neglected. The square is one of the sights used in the detective series Montalbano.

A squadre that is not a square is a majestic round place surrounded by beautiful colums and stunning arcs.
Standing proudly in fronte of the church .
Surreal atmosphere and fully enjoyable at any hours.
Is a free entry place.
My suggestion is to visit it twice.
In the sunset and during the night.
Gives opportunity to get amazing pictures with two different light effects.

We have visited Ispica twice and stayed at the Hotel Gambuzza which is adjacent to the Loggia and Santa Maria Maggiore. I love the Loggia by night and sitting on the steps of the Church and enjoying a gelato is heavenly!!! No, it's NOT St.Peter's, but, then Ispica ISN'T Rome!!!

Yes, it's nice. Yes the church is right there. Yes there are artifacts and pictures of the inside of the church. But at the end of the day, a square is a square is a square...

Although I thought the Loggiato del Sinatra square was larger it was still interesting to visit. Located in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore the nearby church is also an attraction.
