It was interesting to see this new touristic and commercial part of Visegrad. It has big monuments to Tesla, Andric, Mehmed pasa Sokolovic and his brother Makarije. Everything too monumental and kitch for my taste. Interesting enough

Andrictown is a project of a famous film director Emir Kusturica, the Stonetown inspired by the literary works and characters of Nobel prize winner Ivo Andric. This is one of the main tourist attractions in Visegrad. Best time for visit is Spring and Summer time.

Why Andricgrad? What on earth did Andric have to do with Visegrad other than to write a rather grand story of the town and its famous bridge as it evolved in Ottoman time? There is nothing Ottoman about Andricgrad. It has no mosque, only just yet another brand new orthodox church, numberless other ones also springing up all over the Serbian world.
Andricgrad has nothing to do with the famous bridge. It detracts from it. Andric, must be turning in his grave.
It has a street called ulice Mlade Bosne [Young Bosnia], of course referring to the Serbian nationalist group and movement which started the first world war. What on earth they have to do with Visegrad I do not know?
It has a street and square named after Thomas Mann and Goya. Did either visit Visegrad?
I am just waiting for a collection of pointless and unwanted boutiques to fill its high street.
Otherwise nothing to do other than drink a coffee and have a cake in the main square.

It is just sad and looking like medium mall. It is made for people hungry of fake history. Europa park in Germany is just 10000 times more beautifull.

Andricgrad is a big project started by world famous movie director Emir Kusturica. This place will be a new center of Visegrad, with unique architecture, university, shops, city Assemblies, bank, cinema etc.
Visegrad is also famous by its almost 600 years old bridge that was build by Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic and that was an inspiration for Ivo Andric book `Na Drini Cuprija` that got him a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1961. Visegrad is 45 min away from Zlatibor mountain so visiting Visegrad its a must.

So ugly and fake. It is a shopping mall, not a place that gives tribute to one of the most famous writers in Serbian history. I must stress again that everything is so fake. I really think that Kusturica is only trying to make money with it...

Great vision of a film director Emir Kusturica. It is a town within the town Višegrad, which is still under construction, but still interesting and definitely a must see in Višegrad. It is a complex of a stone buildings and houses which shows different historical and architecture period which passed trough Višegrad in centuries. It is located on a river peninsula 300 meters from the famous Bridge on the Drina. Andrictown is also inspired by great Serbian novelist, Nobel prize winner Ivo Andrić. His statue dominates on the Andrictown main square. This complex will be place of Ivo Andrić Institute, Academy of Fine Arts, Renaissance theater, Višegrad new city hall, shops, cafes, hotels etc.
Here you will really fell the spirit of the old times on a new way.
Definitely must see if yu passing this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I first heard of Andricgrad on our local news, saying it was too expensive to build, it has nothing to offer, it would not be worth visiting once it's finished. In a way it was a politic matter of a country. People were so full of prejudice. But anyway, I had a chance to visit it and I did..
After those two days we spent there, I fell in love with that little charming city, its style and its atmosphere takes you away from reality and you just enjoy in some past, past time it tries to revive. I would recommend it to anyone who just needs a brake from their daily routines and worries...

Kamengrad or Andrićgrad as it is nowadays commonly reffered to, should be at first wooden scenery for the comming film of Nemanja (formerly Emir) Kusturica. From this point it is very good oportunity for the local community which will get something usuable and potentialy profitable that could bring jobs to the devastated and divided community. The whole town-under-construction is visibly constructed in hurry and at rather low quality. Currently half empty but it would give you the opportunity to have a nice coffee there. I would also recommend you to visit a nice and good bookstore in particular if you are interested in Nobel Prize laureate Ivo Andrić. His books are available in different languages. A good selection of BIH and Serbian wines is also available there. Occasionaly the place host different music and theatre events (including cinema) events worth to visit. The place has the great potential for the future but that depents largerly on the resolution of nepotism and favoritism in awarding available places in the construction and the success of planned movie.. Looking forward to hear about the plannned movie and to see it. Controversies rised over the place refere to the tragic events from the last war but also to the facts that the mosaics above the cinema has 'notorious' political connotation - will they replace the mosaic once the current entity president will leave the office? Most of the people in Višegrad will also tell you that the famous movie director did not invested a penny into the project but it has 51% of shares of the project. So, welcome to BIH in this sense. Once you are in the area it is worth to see it. If you are inclined to various conspiracy theories and you adore blasphemous roumurs based politics and you have enough time to explore these than it is a must for you.

"The Bridge on the Drina" just dont deserve this fake history monuments, building or whatever it is. Every time I pass there bridge is almoust taking my breath away, but I need to clos on of my eyes not to see this freak iland just in front of it.
Its a KITSCH!
If you ask me I would not allow anything to be builded at least 5km arround the area of the bridge. The bridge deserves to be only shade in the mirror of the river because it is goergous, and I dont know who allowed this Andricgrad to happen. Its terrible ugly.
