You may well drive past this cave church if you are not expecting it, it is on the west end of Kissamos on the road out of town, just after the small old town harbour, parking is at a premium but if you can stop here then it is well worth it.
The orthodox Greek church has an imposing frontage and the church is built into the rock face, it is very sparse inside but I guess provides all that is needed in such a place. To the right of the church is a small cave complex which has also been made into some kind of shrine or place of worship. Also in this area is a tunnel under the coast road which leads to the small rocky bay which appears to be popular with locals for taking a swim.
Worth making the effort to locate this place and visit.

This chapel was built right at the edge of a rock face across from the beach and next to Saint Giánnis Cave.

It's a beautiful place and worth a stop to gaze and for reflection.

There is a large cave here called Saint Ioannis Cave. Part of the cave appears to be a sacred area for activities whilst the West side of the cave has a stunning little chapel.
There is a tunnel under the roadway that takes you to a beach as well.
It's very difficult to find any information about this place on the internet, but it's well worth a visit if passing by

A nice quiet place with a church in the rocks. Bit windy but a beautiful view of Cretan religiosity. It's nice and tranquil, not very touristy, and you have some of the most amazing beaches around in a short drive: : Falassarna, Elafonissi and Balos.
