THE scenic route through the Mexican Rockies. Brings you into touch with Mexico's Tarahumara culture, a native tribe still living as they did centuries ago. Definitely visit the Barrancas del Cobre, with its Zip-lines, rock-climbing, etc. Friendly staff. One downside: It's quite slow on the Sinaloa flatlands, which makes the trip unnecessarily long.

Takes 6 hours, but it was a lot of fun, good service, clean, food descent. Interesting lineup in the morning, You line up along the tracks, hundreds of you. Outside, no station to speak of.

This was the most beautiful train ride. The scenery was fantastic. If you have a choice between 1st and 2nd class don't bother with first class. The only difference is the dining car, the food is not included. 2nd class has burritos and drinks.

I rode El Chepe from Los Mochis to Creel on October 31, Dia de Los Muertos. Anticipating a late afternoon arrival in Los Mochis October 30 and concerned the train would be full due to the holiday I made an advance “reservation” online through Rails NW. On arrival in Los Mochis I went to the El Chepe desk in the... More

The Chepe from Los Mochis is totally idyllic. The views are breath-taking, and the journey really gives you time to reflect and take in the beauty that's surrounding you - sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination, and this is true for this train ride. Make sure you get a seat on the ride hand side... More

For sure Will be a fantastic experience in your life. My recomendation is to start this trip from Chihuahua rail station to Divisadero station. There you could enjoy the view, and spend the night at Divisadero Hotel (Expensive) or go to Creel Town by bus (45min) and be back at 12pm to continue until El Fuerte, another beutiful place!

This is one of the classic train trips in the world. Great views. The best views are between Creel and El Fuerte. Some side trips are available too. The train runs daily as to First Class. They have economy cars only on about three days a week. Both are fun and are pulled by the same engines.

Our trip on the Chepe (Chihuahua El Pacifico Express) was the most spectacular ride. It took about 12 hours from the capital Chihuahua to Los Mochis. We bought a one way ticket on the 1st class train and another for the return on the economic train. The train passes through many tunnels and spectacular cliffs similar to the Colorado Canyon.... We paid to travel in the first class. For the first two hours it is a pretty standard train ride, nothing spectaclur to see. Seata re comforatble. It's during this time that all the passengers seem to migrate up to the dinning cart for breakfast. My husband basicaly had most of the first class section to ourselves. Eventualy people returned... The views are spectacular from the little town call Creel all the way to Del Fuerte station. I recommend to jump off the train in Creel, rent an all terrain motorcycle and visit the Arareko lake for some boat rowing and then go to the Cusarare waterfall. All togheter it will take around 5 or 6 hours. You can choose... More
