Travelled through Mexico using the Chepe train making stops along the way. The train has a dining area where they serve light breakfasts and lunches. However, the main part of El Chepe train are the stunning views of Mexico you will see as you're driven through. The only thing i regret is not taking more pictures !!

If you enjoy slow train rides through beautiful scenery, then be sure to take this train ride between El Fuerte and Creel. Our Mexican friends planned this trip for us, so they knew the best section of the train route. The first car is the dining car, with acceptable food, and the next car is the first class car, which... More

A split journey from Los Mochis to Chihuahua via Creel. First class carriage. On time. Very comfortable. Police on train but not from Creel. Fantastic scenery. Lots of luggage space. Buffet car very good and food more than acceptable. Would be handy to advertise operating times of buffet car.

I took Chepe last march going from Chihuahua to Barrancas. This train ride is supposed to be in of the great train rides in the world and I agree. You board Chepe early in the morning and travel from dessert, to grass plains, to apple plantations, thru farms small towns and finally pine forests just before you arrive at Barrancas... More

True story...we were having morning coffee in the dining car sightseeing thru the picture window. The waiter asks us if we would like anything else...toast perhaps? Sure, toast is good. The waiter walks two tables forward, snatches a plate of toast from a feller having breakfast and walks toward the galley. At the galley door he pirouettes, walks back to... More

El Chepe, the train itself, could do with some TLC. It's a bit worn. But the journey is interesting for the scenery, and the spectacular Copper Canyon. I was at first put off going to Creel because it's described as a tourist town but it's the best place to have a stop over. There's lots to do from there. You... More

If we ever did this again I would board in Los Mochis rather than driving for several hours to El Fuerte (home of Zorro), we overnighted in Bauhichivo, Posada Barranas, Creel and Chihuahua. We had 2 hand luggage & 1 soft bag and that was more than enough (there is luggage storage in each compartment). Each hotel takes you to... More

Was on a first class car. Seats were comfy and the dining car was nice and actually had some food that was quite good....especially the Aztec soup. It's a 7 1/2 hours between these 2 points. A long time for those who tend to suffer from motion sickness. The first 1 1/2 hours or so are not really scenic. After... More

The train is comfortable and the windows are clean and untinted so one can take amazing photos right through the window. The waiting areas at the various stations may not have adequate capacity during high traffic times such as Easter (Semana Santa) when Mexico schools are closed in the week before and after Easter and everyone who can goes on...
