July 2-5 2016, we traveled from Chihuahua to El Fuerte, to Posada Barrancas, Creel then back to Chihuahua. Wish we could've doubled the length of our trip - it was THAT fantastic. Train was uber comfy, the reclining seats, the AC, and our kids absolutely LOVED the tasty local flavors of the yummy, satisfying meals in the dining car. Highlight... More

We took the tourist train in economy class.... you cannot reserve economy but just show up and buy your ticket at the Los Mochos station..... Lots of locals and a few travellers. We got to the station around 5am and had no problems at all .... very little difference between first and economy class. Spent a lot of time between... More

We begin our journey in Los Mochis, from the airport the Balderrama Hotels staff give us a ride to El Fuerte. We stay one night there in a hotel, they say, was the Zorro's house. Early next day we took the Chepe to Bahuichivo, spend two nigths in another Balderrama hotel in Cerocahui, then took the train again to Divisadero... More

We rode the train from Los Mochis to Creel and back. The ride from Los Mochis was in economy class and was very pleasant. We were seated by a large, clean window with great views. Food vendors came on to the train with delicious, inexpensive tamales and quesadillas. Fellow passengers were friendly. By contrast, the return trip was not nice.... More

Travelled through Mexico using the Chepe train making stops along the way. The train has a dining area where they serve light breakfasts and lunches. However, the main part of El Chepe train are the stunning views of Mexico you will see as you're driven through. The only thing i regret is not taking more pictures !!

If you enjoy slow train rides through beautiful scenery, then be sure to take this train ride between El Fuerte and Creel. Our Mexican friends planned this trip for us, so they knew the best section of the train route. The first car is the dining car, with acceptable food, and the next car is the first class car, which... More

A split journey from Los Mochis to Chihuahua via Creel. First class carriage. On time. Very comfortable. Police on train but not from Creel. Fantastic scenery. Lots of luggage space. Buffet car very good and food more than acceptable. Would be handy to advertise operating times of buffet car.

I took Chepe last march going from Chihuahua to Barrancas. This train ride is supposed to be in of the great train rides in the world and I agree. You board Chepe early in the morning and travel from dessert, to grass plains, to apple plantations, thru farms small towns and finally pine forests just before you arrive at Barrancas... More

True story...we were having morning coffee in the dining car sightseeing thru the picture window. The waiter asks us if we would like anything else...toast perhaps? Sure, toast is good. The waiter walks two tables forward, snatches a plate of toast from a feller having breakfast and walks toward the galley. At the galley door he pirouettes, walks back to... More
