Barbara, I can't say because we flew in and took a taxi to the station. I don't have a gauge for the safety of the neighborhood the station is in.
Hi! Are you able to buy a one-way ticket and from los Mochis to Chihauhua and get off at one of the stops and back on the next day? or must you purchase a different ticket from each place you stop to your next stop? Thank you!

You DO need to buy separate tickets for each part of your trip. If you don't do that and stop in any other city they will charge you a considerable fee. A friend of mine did it, I don't remember the amount he had to pay, but... More

I just get on the train when it arrives at whatever station, find a seat and wait till the staff comes along to charge me.
