If you are staying in Bangkok it is well worth the drive down at least for the weekend to go to this floating market. Not a western tourist trap but an absolutely authentic floating market. Amazing food and locally made products are on sale and don't miss out on the Thai massage at the entrance....the best we have ever had... More

The fact that this floating market is frequented by Asian tourists make it really interesting and then must visit; therefore you do not expect the typical souvenirs for Western tourists because you will not find them. But there really is everything, exotic food, fabrics, clothes ...... I do recommend a visit. To reach it, there are vans that depart from... More

The floating market is only to be seen in the weekend. Then the boats with food are coming alongside the banks and you can have your food prepared while sitting on the quai. During the week it is the opposit around. Tourists are filling the longtailboats, which are lining up on the canal. Now the food is prepared on the... More

Not the postcard floating market but nevertheless great vibe. Bit of a journey from Bangkok so plan a day trip and make this a stop off point for lunch or dinner. Great food, reasonably priced, cheap boat trips available . We just walked along one side crossed over a bridge walked the other side, stopped for a late lunch by... More

A bit touristy which kind of made the experience feel a bit unauthentic. A small number of boats selling food but all the shops that lined the market were just selling souvenirs.

It is nice place to visit, but not sure it worth the day out from Bangkok. We did a one night in amphawa on the way to katchanabury, it was nice visit, however, the market was just ok, we decided not to eat from the boats, we had good dinner in near by restaurant,.

Arrived there at around 12 noon. Quite quiet during that time. Took a temple boat tour. Its quite boring unless you want to pray in the temples. Read abt reviews that taxis scamming tourist by taking them to another place to take a boat to amphawa floating market (price is throat cutting) instead of going straight to amphawa. Our initial... We visited the Amphawa market as part of a tour; the markets are colourful and very very busy!! The town itself looks fascinating and I would have loved to have time to really see it properly. It would be worthwhile staying there a few days. The highlight was being taken up the river by boat and seeing the fireflies along the... More
