Please do not come to this scam place!! I brought my family to here and regretted.
Be careful of VAN scam, where the driver will bring u to the boat port, and intro u the boss(owner of the port) u have to buy the boat package to tour around.
Firstly, goids are too overpriced 3x4x than Chatchuchak (which are already pricy).
Second, the floating market lost its charm and authenticity compared to years ago. It just became one big tourist trap.
Third, travelling to there is way too long and at least 1-2 hour and if u get stuck in Bangkok’s traffic jam, it will be longer. This means it’s better to skip this nonsense and enjoy the night markets and the shopping malls here.
It’s just not worth it anymore. I’m angry I got scammed with my family at this tourist trap. Fked up place and ruined my day.

Absolutely not acceptable the way they rip you off. The trip to get there from our hotel took 90 minutes, once there we had to pay 2000 baths pr. Person to sail around really pleading sales people, and whey would not take no as an answer.... everything was expensive and not to forget the poor animals... OMG stay away...it doesn't even deserve 1 star

Now that COVID has subsided, this market is booming again. You have the option of visiting vendors along the pathways around the canal, or taking a boat tour to visit vendors only reachable by boat. A fascinating part of the boat tour was the area where people still live on the canals. At previous times, the canals were the only way of transportation. Along, the old main canal, we were shown the old business area, with banks and movie theatre, as well as many homes, some still in use, some abandoned.
Prices with the vendors are good, and there is a huge variety of items and food for sale.

Enjoy live music.

Classic Thai street food in an extremely hot and overcrowded environment. This is not the place for souvenirs as it is all food items. Based on the hot temperature and market conditions I would not attempt to try anything there for fear of getting sick and wanted to leave after one walk through everything.

What a great experience!
You get in a low floating boat. The driver navigates through a network of canals. The water is murky and dirty that's about the only downside. The market, itself, has plenty to choose from. You can buy souvenirs, food, desert, or clothing. You can haggle with the vendors to lower prices. Within all these canals, there's an elephant/monkey viewing area. It is quite sad because these animals are not well taken care of.
Depending on the time of year you go be prepared to dress appropriately.

Good for a stop, tourist market with a good vibe. Take a seat, eat and drink, look around and enjoy. Take a boat tour to see the surrounding and in the evening go to see the fireflies. Only on friday, saterday and sunday.

We had 1 day so we organised the train and floating Market. The boat Tour was overpriced. 3000 Baht for 90 minutes. Not worth the money. It is our 5th floating market in Thailand.
The boat Tour was nice. Not very crowdy but we went on wednesday and there werd very few boats. Along the Canal you See nice Standard Souvenirs and clothes Shop. The typical Feeling with a Lot of vendor s boats on the River is Missing here. The max you can get is some Mangos or ice cream.
Nb: the boat is a reap Off :-( but it was interesting

Amphawa Floating Market is a market that everyone must think of first. If coming to Mae Klong on Saturday, there will be a lot of people. It's not easy to walk. Afraid to fall into the water, they have to hide, but there are plenty of food, souvenirs, and shops to choose from. The accommodation is full, I can't eat it all every time, but I buy.

My pictures were taken on a Monday morning. I went out on a stroll in search for food but nothing was opened. I arrived on Sunday and it was a different world. It was bustling and lively. Tons of food, good food and great shopping. People are friendly too. A boat trip around the island during the day and firefly night cruise are popular and highly recommended. Or simply just an iced coffee by the canal watching people and boats going by. Couple of decent restaurants serving dinner with live music.

During my trip to Damnoen Sadauk area, I have visited the Ampawa floating market on my way back. It was a Monday and this weekend market was closed. I found most of the shops on the banks of the canal closed and empty boats tied to the poles on the pier. I enjoyed clicking pics of the deserted place - it was a different experience.

If yes, what time is the last bus leaving to Bangkok?
thank you in advance! :)

But you will have to check schedules at any agency in Bangkok.
There are also Tour buses there all the time.

Will the floating market open during the Chinese New year (Saturday and Sunday)? Thank you!
Written August 15, 2022
We reizen met een groep van 11 volwassenen.
Maar er kan maar geboekt worden voor 10.
Is er geen mogelijkheid om de Railway Market en de Floating Market te boeken voor elf personen, dit voor vrijdag 31 juli ?
Written February 13, 2020
Thank you. Do you know what is the boat ride price per person. Is there any place you recommend to get a boat tour to see firefly that would stop at the tree temple? or can we also get tickets inside the market? Thanks

The train 🚊 market is a nice thing to see

Hi there,, is the boat ride available during the week? I wanted to see the fireflies and wondered if the boats operate even when the market is closed. I saw the markets are only open on the weekends. Please help. Thanks
Written January 12, 2020
Hi, yes the boat rides is available in the evening for fireflies sighting.
Written January 13, 2020
Hi all,
How much is a boat ride through the market? I'm not looking to get ripped off lol.
Thanks in advance.

Alone would cost you 500 baht (estimated) so you need to negotiate.
Go in a group, the cost would be less.
As this is a tourist attraction, be prepared to be ripped off. I am a local and they tried to ripped me off. What nerves!

Amphawa floating market opens on Friday 8:00am -7pm? My return flight is on Saturday so would like to visit the place on Friday. How to get to this place from Wat Arun Bangkok ?
Written July 17, 2019
The shops are partly opened during weekdays. The market is opened. I visited on a weekend and enjoyed a rather quiet side the floating market. It depends on what you want at the market.

Hi, may I know if theres any public transporation from Hua Hin to the amphawa floating market?
Written June 5, 2019
Hi HuiminY4, my apologies for a tad late! You can take a train but that will require a little bit of exploring.. you can take the northbound train from Hua Hin (towards Hua Lamphong) and alight at Ratchaburi Station. Then take a taxi.. which will cost you another $15 or so. The train journey is approximately 2 hours from Hua Hin, and the taxi transit would be another 30 minutes. Whether is it economical.. you have to do your math whether you're travelling in a group or just a couple. I agree with Bomchicka on the website which is actually very useful and like what Aditya suggested, hiring a driver/renting a car might make better economical and logistic sense. Cheers!

Planning on doing these 2 markets on Sunday, April 14th. I’ve heard the markets will be open but lots of vendors may be gone celebrating the holiday. Is it still worth it to go? Anyone have any experience with either of these during Songkran?
Written April 5, 2019
Yes Songkran is a national holiday, usualy i prefer not to go to thai during this time, since most vendor will be closed.
But i think you dont need to worried since the market is very big... you still can enjoy it.
