Possibly the only advantage of spending the night in Amphawa is to get an early start in the morning . At 7:30 we took a longboat for a couple of hours ( 500 baht ) to visit the 5 temples along the river ; not only was the river very quiet but the temples were deserted. The oldest ( all... More

Great authentic river market. Enjoy seafood cooked on the boats anchored below. Colourful and busy, and an evening market too

If you are expecting a nice boat ride in clean water with shops all around giving good bargains and offering great local food - STAY AWAY...coz this place is just the opposite. Many cab drivers will try to sell you the idea of visiting floating market. Beware-its a scam. Once you reach there after almost 1.5 hours drive from Bangkok,... More

In the morning, we're planned with my private taxi driver to bring us to Amphawa floating market. Then after 2 hours ride from bangkok i can see a big green road... More

Amphawa is the second most popular floating market (everning market) near Bangkok, not as large as Damnoen Saduak (morning market) but more authentic, with visitors almost exclusively Thai. Located 50 km from Bangkok this once small village was apparently already present in the mid-Seventeenth Century. It has become such a magnet for Thai weekenders that food stalls have grown from... Hotel wanted 2500 baht for round trip wirh 3 to 4 hrs at the floating market and we were told boat rides around the klongs to the temple would 100 baht per person. We set off at 2pm and it was a good 1.5 hr drive.... More

I came to Bangkok from stayin a week in Chiang mai, of course, after the peace of north, Bangkok seems way too loud and crowded. So everyone comes at you and offers tuk tuks, tours and all sorts of crazy souveniers... It get's really frustrating. But, since I've heard a lot of great reviews about this market, I really wanted... More

Opened only at weekend, it's packed with locals where we can get a glimpse of local food and culture. A must do is to take a boat to watch the fireflies and cruise along the canal to see the colorful floating shops on both sides. I find the small boat acting as a restuarant where food is cooked on the... More

This market is not touristy and very genuine! Loved the people, prices, food and atmosphere. Even on a rainy day, it is no problem to visit because it's all roofed. We spent about 5 hours there and could have stayed longer. Definitely worth visiting and bring some appetite with you!
