We recently visited Capercaillie Winery as part of our wine tour.
Tina was an exceptional host (15/10 for her service). It is obvious that she loves her job and is passionate about wine. She was really friendly, funny and knowledgeable.
To be honest, the wines weren't the most flavourful in my opinion. They weren't bad (far from the worst wines I have tasted) but they had quite a mild flavour. We did end up purchasing a bottle of Moscato though as it wasn't super sweet and tasted refreshing - it will be perfect on a warm summer afternoon.
There was the standard $5 tasting fee per person that was waived when purchasing a bottle.

A short walk from the back of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. We tasted 8 great wines, and Tina our host was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Tastings are free, but wine purchases are relatively expensive. We enjoyed our visit.

Bron was so knowledgeable about the Capercaillie wines, and offered the right amount of info to our group. We were seated comfortably, taken through each wine in a leisurely way and offered cheese and crackers as well as chocolate to complement the wine tasting experience. The addition of a little lemon juice to Moscato on Bron's advice was amazing! The wines were excellent, and we even tasted the more select and expensive wines such as the Ghillie 2014 Shiraz.
I can't recommend this experience enough but be sure to book a private tasting for the ultimate experience!

Between the beautiful grounds, the cool cellar door, friendly and funny Nick doing our tastings, and the delicious wine, you can't go wrong. Add this one to your list - you are guaranteed to love something about this place!

Great winery with a knowledgable host. Loved their Moscato and Port and bought a bottle each. Recommend :)

We called into Capercaillie winery on a winery tour. What a pleasant experience. Our host for the group made the experience one of the best. Get knowledge and a very aussie flare to the presentation. I'd highly recommend this winery if you are in the area.

Was our first stop of the day, and what a start it was. Only downhill from here! Everything was excellent, the host (Bron) was lovely and gave us just the right amount of information without boring anybody and not leaving us with many questions. The wine quality was outstanding and the atmosphere at the cellar door was lovely too.
I thought after that I may have been caught up in the romance of it all and i would feel the same about every place i went but nothing matched up to this place!

My husband and I visited this cellar door with a tour company (Grape Vine Tours - highly recommended). Such a beautiful location, but easy to miss from the road. Brooke gave us all a warm inviting welcome and motioned us to a lovely seating area. We spent the next hour trying various wines and learnt so much. Brooke was very informative, and we both enjoyed their variety of wines. My husband is a fan of dry reds, and I am a desert wine person and there was plenty for both of us and we left with several bottles. Brooke gave as suggestions, and even added a bit of lemon juice to the Mascato for us to taste and it was amazing! We highly recommend this winery.

Stopped in at Capercaillie on a wine tour and was pleasantly surprised. Although it was not my favourite wine of the tour, our tasting hostess, Tina, was amazing and very personable. She was very knowledgeable on the wine and the estate. I will visit again to introduce others to this great winery.
