周辺は道路が谷になってる立体的な地形で、車で行くとわかりにくいところにありました。石がむき出しで、崩れそうな感じもする古墳です。

古墳の横穴式石室が露出した遺蹟です。

古墳ですが、盛土が消失し横穴式石室が露出した状態です。
大規模農道沿いの直ぐ見える場所に位置しています。

７世紀以降のものと推定されており、町指定史跡となっています。
但し、何故ここだけ露出しているのか不明で、詳しい由来も分からないそうです。

石室内は出入り自由で、近所の子供達の遊び場（探検場）ともなっています。
未発掘ですが、「火の釜」周辺にも古墳らしき山が沢山あります。
