“DON’T” waste your time, energy or money.
We travelled approximately an hour to visit this attraction and regretted it. If this was in England, it would be closed down for health & safety concerns. (I would love to know their injury count). It’s a long way down to the lake, I’d say approximately 1 mile, and there are lots of steps, rocky and stones like they use on railway tracks paths, all the way down to the lake. Then, when you think you’re at the bottom, it’s a very steep rocky & slippery route to the lake. Oh and then you have the route back up to tend with.
This might seem a silly thing to say, but if you look at the photos on here, you’ll probably notice that most of the photos are from above and not near the lake
Please don’t visit this site, for your own safety.

It was a very nice experience and I drank my best coffee ever at the cafe at the bottom: Simitrja. They also have a nice lush garden with small turtles and fantastic pancakes. The WC was also tidy. Google this to find it: Šimitrija obrt za ugostiteljstvo i usluge vl.Josipa Pojatina

It's a stunning location. The walk down is daunting because it seems a long way back up but the path is long, winding and smooth so it's not so onerous. Some of us managed it in flip flops but trainers would be more sensible!
The water is clear, blue and invigorating.
Make sure you also visit the fort at the top for amazing views!

This lake is a beautiful natural attraction. It is worth going down there even if the path is in full sun...The hardest part is the ascent, count 45 minutes round trip. And the plus is to bathe in refreshing water.

Was an easy climb down with switchbacks. The lake is mesmerizing. Truly is beautiful. Only wish we brought our swim suits down, next time! It is about 30 min drive off the main highway with very twisty roads.

Went as a family of four, two adults and two teenagers. Parking is free but limited at the front of the site, but there is plenty if you drive close to the town. If you drive from the Blue to the Red lake, there is no parking along the road. At the Red lake, there is a lay by. It is small and quiet. You can't access the water at the Red lake. It's just a photo opportunity. You need to buy a ticket to walk through the Blue lake footpaths. It was 20kuna for adults and 10 for children. There is a small toilet block the at the entrance, past the cafe kiosk. The entrance fee buys you unlimited time around the footpaths, and you receive a large leaflet telling you some basics about the geology of the formation and the myths about it (fairies). The walk down is not wheelchair, buggy or disabled friendly. You need to wear trainers, not flipflops. The paths are gravelly, well made but it is easy to slip. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk down. At the bottom, the path stops and you have to negotiate an unmade, rough boulder strewn descent to reach the water. There were mostly locals there, with young children. Take a swimsuit if you want to swim. There are no changing areas, this is like nature at its best. The view is breathtaking, both at the top and at the base. Well worth the walk. The water is cold, but not freezing. It is definitely worth a swim, if only to experience the view from a different angle. The water shelves away quickly and it is very deep, but there are rocks you can stand in close to the edge, but they are extremely slippery. There is also a small castle ruin on one side of the sink hole, at the top, but we didn't visit it. The town is a short walk away and has many bars and cafes, but nothing that sold snacks or meals when we went on a Monday at 1.00pm. There was a great bakery opposite the small football/sports stadium. Parking was pay at the meter.

for a young girl desiring adventure, this was just great because swimming in a lake is an adventure, water is awesome, the location is just perfect, people are friendly and cool, nature is just stunning and for the braver ones there's rock jumping - they're like 15 - 20 meters tall and everything about the lake is just awesome and I really loved my day at Blue lake :)

If you are nearby, it is interesting to visit this lake. It is easily accessable on foot, and in the summer time you can swim in it. I liked it very much.

The blue lake is a collapsed cavern over a sink hole and is accessible via a steep gravel path. It’s not an easy walk unless you have sturdy trainers, but it’s worth it for the views and a swim in the crystal clear lake at the bottom. Only £1 or so each to visit, and there’s a lovely bar when you’ve struggled back up to the top.

Located in picturesque town Imotski, approx. 20 km from a tunnel in beautiful small place Zagvozd that connects inland Dalmatia to a coastal Dalmatia, this is truly a pearl in magical country side. Small road takes you from the top to the water and it is peaceful and relaxing walk. You can hear birds and enjoy in a view to crystal blue water as well as the azure sky above you. At the entrance to Blue lake is a Tourist office Imotski; really helpful people are working there so they will be able to answer your questions.

Hi, I was wondering why Red/Blue lake have opening hour. I’ve read reviews and people say they’ve gone early morning but google hours say they open at noon. What am I missing??
Written September 6, 2018
We went there early morning and the gates were open. In fact we actually discussed it that it looked as if the gates are not being closed. Tit was 09 am and the office was closed.
