口コミ見てやってきました☀️丁度、ヤクルト工場の見学にきたので、見学前に立ち寄りました😆おぉーと言う感じです(笑)

吉井川沿いを走っていくと見えます。

国道３７４号を吉井川に沿って走っていくと、この堰の前後はすこし視界が開けて大きな堰が見えてきます。
堰の上は狭いけれど車で渡って行くことができるようでした。
発電が主な用途なんだそうです。

　田原井堰は江戸初期に岡山藩で活躍した津田永忠の事績のひとつだ。吉井川の氾濫を防ぐとともに、広大な水田地帯へ農業用水を送るため藩の命令で築造した。百間川、後楽園、閑谷学校などに並ぶ永忠が手掛けた藩政の基盤だ。300年たち、老朽化した井堰は国営事業として改修された。1979年から8年をかけて新しい井堰が建造され、現代の姿になっている。150年に一度発生する確率の大洪水にも耐える設計が施されたほか、水底には水力発電機が設けられるなど現代技術が縦横に生かされている。そばを自動車で走ると、その巨大さはドライバーの耳目を引く。

間近で見ると驚く規模

とても大きな井堰です。
比較的空いた道路を走っていると突然に見えてきます。
井堰の上は車道になっていて、4月上旬なら川の両岸に桜が咲き誇っています。
のんびりした雰囲気なので、弁当など持って行ってみると良いと思います。

川での水力発電量は日本一

津田永忠の事績を、訪ねて行きました。古い井堰はすでになく、残念ですが、時代の要請で仕方ないかな。少しだけど、使用されてた石で、復元されていたのが、嬉しかったです。
永忠時代にはなかった水量発電所が、出来ていたのに驚きました。
それも川での、発電量が日本一だとか、すごいですね。

吉井川の新田原井堰は発電用

吉井川の新田原井堰は発電用です。
津山から西大寺迄流れる岡山の3大河川の1つの吉井川を堰き止めています。
景観の良いスポットが幾つかあります。
堰の横から水を引いているようです。

新田原井堰と言うそうです。
向こうに脇水路があります。
魚を通すためでしょうか？
農業用水と発電用だそうです。
片鉄ロマン街道をサイクリング中に、
和気駅を過ぎて少し行くと吉井川にありました。

井堰よりも桜？

田原井堰は歴史の観点から見るととても貴重な建造物です。
しかし私の行ったのが桜の満開の時期だったため、井堰そのものよりも周囲の桜が目立っていました。
でもこの井堰は吉井川を上流から泳いでくる鮎を見ることもできます。
ぜひ見学してみてください。
