Today, 30th April, we made a trip to the city Dobris and the surrounding forrests. First we walked the educational trail of the city, starting from the main square lead by the yellow sign and green thereafter, the direction Brodec. On our way, we saw the Priest's Chair, the Under the Picture crossroad, Under the Jewish meadow. The circuit is approximately 12 km long and leads through a wonderful forrest with a plenty of species. After that, we expored the castle and its beautiful garden. I recommend this colorful trip in the pictoresque landscape for a group of friends to enjoy the most. You can park at some places after 12:00 for free or you can stay at the Penny market in the Park&Ride zone for 20 CK a day. The trip is perfect in case the weather is very warm because you can cool yourself down in the forrest. There are many beautiful marigolds, anemones and farms with ponies and other animals.

The original rococo-style castle is a very nice. Many room´s furnishing and the original parquet flooring is quite exciting leaving little to imagination to the lavish lifestyle of the rich from the era of mid 18th century. The outside huge green area of both French park and then English add a more charm to the place. A fun-fact is that under communist regime, this castle was used by many famous Czech writers as an inspiration place where they could live for months. One such room is on display when taking the guided tour.

Dobříš is a small pretty palace owned by Colloredo-Mansfeld family. Interiors are nice, gardens seem to be beautiful.
Our suggestion for improvement would be for a guide to speak more about lifestyle of the era and less about complicated genealogical tree of the Colloredo-Mansfeld family.
Unfortunately the gardens are closed for reconstruction so you can only enter the palace itself. Small pets are not allowed inside even in a bag. Parking is available in the town, walking distance from the palace.
Worth visiting as a small trip.

We went by bus, about 40 minutes, and cost about 40p, from Andel, to Dobris. A short walk took us to the Chateau. It's really lovely, and not very busy in Winter. It's open in December, which is one of the reasons we chose to go, as not many Castles are open then. The gardens look nice for a Summer visit, but were closed when we went. We did the tour with a guide, which was in Czech. One of our party of 4 was Czech speaking, the other 3 English, but the written guide in English was fine. We were able to ask questions, and were understood.
It's a family home and has the feel of it. I would definitely recommend it for a chance to see the countryside outside Prague. There was a lovely cake shop and cafe to stop at along the way, which we did there and back!

On arrival at this chateau there is paid parking directly outside.
The exteriors have been recently renovated and painted as they are in fantastic condition. Sadly we arrived late so were unable to view the interiors.
Luckily the gardens were open and they were beautiful!! Walking along the terraced spaces there is so much to look at you have to stop and soak it all in.
We still spent about 2 hours just in the garden due to it being so lovely and you can also buy ice cream and light snacks at the entrance.

You can visit the court of this castle without payment, or you can see a piece of the gardens. Very nice. Especially, the castle is in the good condition. Very calm, nice place to sit or walk.

Originally owned by the Colloredo-Mannfeld family, they were evicted by the Nazis in 1938, and only repossessed their property with the fall of the Soviet Union.

We were in this hotel in 2013 for couple days, nice interior, the receptionist very friendly and helpful, just a great and quiet place to relax. But who ever purchased these queen beds, should be made to sleep in them, just to get up in the morning , you need a help from another person, most useless beds I have ever slept on. To low to the floor , I just about broke my back trying to get up.
On the another hand the Restaurant on the premises is a first class , great food and service like nowhere else.
